ok was having a discussion with a friend of mine aqnd tel me what you think...
We were talking about when to see the gyno after you find out you are pg. she said she plans on going right away i said i am going to wait this time ( when this time does finally happen) wait until 8 weeks or so. last time i went at 5 weeks and started bleeding teh day of my internal so now i plan to wait i mean what can they do anyway if i was to have another M/C? am i right whart do you think? How long did everyone it to go the gyno after they got their BFP?

Most offices will not see you until after 7 or so weeks anyway - although there are a few offices that will confirm the pregnancy with a blood test (mine did not - nor did i want to go for a blood test to confirm - I knew I was pregnant, the pregnancy tests confirmed it and my period never arrived).
With this pregnancy, I went in a 7 weeks - in which they did a blood test and internal and were able to see the heartbeat. The heartbeat forms around 6 weeks - so if you go any earlier - you won't be able to see a heartbeat anyway and since that is an important factor to the whole experience - i think its always better waiting till around 7 weeks - and at least you can put your mind at ease then when you see the heartbeat and get bloodwork done. Sorry this is so long.

my dr. would see me until like a month after I got my bfp.. I was 8 1/2 weeks.. and yep..I got to see the heartbeat...

I went for my first ultrasound at 5 weeks, 6 days and saw a heartbeat....granted it was only 107 but it was there with a sac :). I went early due to a previous chemical pregnancy. Normally if you've had a problem before they will see you early. I'm glad I did because they were able to catch a low progesterone level and start me on suppositories. I think it depends on the office. I just voiced my concerns to the receptionst and it worked :)

Noel, I felt the same way. When I had the m/c the day after i saw the ob, i decided that i wasn't going to get my hopes up by getting the ultrasound so early when you can't see anything but the sac at 5 weeks anyways.
With this PG I waited til i was about 7 weeks. I was able to see the heartbeat and tiny buds for arms and legs. I was a hard wait, but I am soo glad I did it, especially when dr's can't do anything about early m/c's.

I went when I was almost 5 weeks to confirm that i was PG with a blood test. Also, my doc switched my prenatals. My doc would not do a sonogram at 5 weeks. She said it was too early. She had me come in at 8 weeks to do a sono and that is when we saw our son's heart beat for the first time.

My doctor originally did not want to see me until I was about 7 weeks. Since I had some bleeding at the beginning of my 5th week, they wanted to see my then. Honestly, I would want to go in early so that they can monitor me. I have to go the doctor every 2 weeks, due to my progesterone being low. I am taking supplements for this and the only way for them to monitor me is for me to go for sonograms every 2 weeks. Sometimes the doctors can help

When I found out I was PG, I called and they told me the doc would not see my until I was 9 weeks along. Which was fine, and I got a sono and saw the hearbeat and all was well.

I had pretty much the same experience. I went at 6 weeks for blood test and an interneal. Then I went back at 10 weeks where we saw the sonogram and the baby's heart beat.

Ironically, I had already had a gyno appointment scheduled long before I had any clue I was pregnant. I was 5 weeks when I went.

I went right after my BFP for blood work since I had miscarried and I was scared. Normally, I would have gone around the 7-8 week.
Honestly, unless your friend is having issues TTC, it's not up to her when she goes in to the dr. They don't take you until 6-8 weeks so that they can confirm via ultrasound

Since you already had a M/C, they might want to see you right away, as soon as you get your BFP. Just to monitor you and perhaps do a sono to confirm everything is ok. Also, if your HCG levels are low, they will give you supplements to increase your chances. I would call your doctor and find out what you need to do when you get pregnant again.

The day I after I got my BFP I had to go to the RE for a beta test (that is their proceedure). My OB didn't see me until I was 8 weeks.

With my first I didn't go until I was 9 weeks. (I had just started a new job & had to wait for my insurance to come in)
When you do succeed start taking pre-natals & go to the Dr when you are ready.

I went at 6 weeks and saw a heartbeat at 6 weeks. If you wan to wait until 8 weeks, I think that is fine.

When I got my BFP I called my doc and they said they didn't want to see me until 8 wks. I was a bit annoyed because I wasn't taking any prenatals yet, and I asked about them. The receptionist said that when I come at 8 wks they will give me a bunch of samples so I can choose which one I like best and then the doc will write me a script at the next appt for whichever I choose. I again asked about waiting until 8 wks to start the vitamins. She again said it was fine. I had spotting at 5wks so I insisted that I be seen. I went, and all was fine. They gave me the vitamins then. I agree that you should start the vitamins as soon as you find out even if your doc won't see you until 8-9 wks, as the spine is supposed to close before that time, and those first few weeks is when the folic acid is most important.
