maybe they get more with held during the year?
I claim married 1 and got back less then $1K- BUT I get my money during the year and invest on my own
I am not loaning the government my money
same here...I claim 1, and NOT 0. I was always told the best thing to do its break even.

Dh and I claim 0 so more is taken out in the year and then we get it back
we do too b/c it is too hard to determine what DHs commission will be & we have had to pay in the past. As much as I hate to "loan" the government money, I hate paying a lump sum even more.
He is in a new job where his commission is more predictable, so we are talking to our accountant about taking the extra money out of our checks directly into a savings account. That way if we have to pay at least we will have gained some interest on the money first.

for us it's the $35K that we pay in mortgage interest and property taxes that gets us money back.
I'll trade my tax refund for a decrease in that number
