Okay, I guess this baby is real now...

With both pregnancies I have felt very detached from the babies. That of course changed once DD#1 arrived and she is my world now but until I can hold them I have trouble picturing them as real and mine. I think we finally decided on a name and I also bought DD#2's coming home outfit over the weekend. It was on our front step as I headed out the door this morning and I am so excited to open it once I get home. We have almost everything to reuse from DD#1 so there is very little to purchase but it felt so nice to buy something new and special for the baby.

Just a quick note to other moms who may have felt this way... it's ok! Not feeling a connection during your pregnancy does not make you a bad mommy. Hope I'm not the only one who struggles with this.

good to know. after going thru IVF sometimes I still cant believe this is really happening, so def feel a bit of a disconnect to reality in that sense. I know that I love the baby, but not always really "feel" it. I have to look at the sono pix to feel more. I still haven't really felt the baby move so I especially don't know how to take it all. I guess I don't really feel a "MOM". Thought this will change once the baby arrives, good to know it does.

I agree! I didn't feel much but I would say 2 days after he was here and I could feed him, go see him in the NICU and take more control back, I was bonding like crazy. I thought I would never feel that mommy feeling and I was so scared. I even talked to my doctor because I thought I was going to go crazy. He said that a lot of women say the same thing. Congrats to you !!
