Okay, I think this is going to be the stupidest question of all time!!!
Does anyone else have trouble "stuffing" a duvet cover??
In all my years of living on my own and now with DH, I have so much trouble with this. I can never get it looking unlumpy or get the corners to lay nicely without having to actually crawl into the duvet cover itself!
We had an overnight guest last night and as I was changing the sheets and the cover, I was inside the duvet cover and just started laughing at myself.
Anyone have any tips? Am I the only one that does this??

I have a great tip
you take the duvet cover and sew peices of fabric or something that can be tied into all 4 corners
you do the same on the corners of the comforter
then you tie them together- everything stays in place
I did it- it works great

Great idea!!! Thanks!!!!
I do feel better though knowing I'm not the only one that crawls into it! I'm waiting for the day DH catches me doing this... I'll never live it down!

I have always had down blankets. I have been doing it for so long, it's like 2nd nature by now.
I lay the duvet flat on the bed then I insert one corner of the blanket at a time - to the top 2 corners. once that is done, I grab the duvet (with the blanket inside) by the top corners and shake it until the bottom of the blanket is aligned with the duvet, then button it up.
works great for me.

I used to turn my duvet cover inside out.
Get two big safety pins and clip the bottom of the cover to the bottom of the duvet.
Turn the duvet cover, over the duvet (simulataneously stuffing the duvet inside.
Take two more safety pins and pin the top two corners, Shake it out and...
Waaaaaaa-laaaaa.

This is the one reason why I didn't want to register for a down comforter - I don't care how comfortable they are - they never look like they look in the department store -
FH INSISTED that we get a down comforter...I told him that it was going to drive me crazy every morning trying to get the thing to look neat.... yes I am that person that makes her bed everymorning and needs every corner to be tucked and folded the right way...no ripples on my bed...

Me, too. I hate when there are creases/wrinkles in my comforter.
I have issues

Re: Okay, I think this is going to be the stupidest question of all time!!!
I am so glad you posted this!!!! I crawl inside too!!! The first time DH saw me do this, he thought I was crazy, so I told him to try it. He leaves me alone now when the duvet and I wrestle
But I think some of the suggestions on this thread are much better methods!!!!!

I also do then and I use hair clips to keep one side in place when I am working on the other side. It's a royal pain but I wouldn't give up my down comforter for the world!

This is exactly what I do except I use really tight clothes pins to keep each corner in place until I fluff the whole thing into place, then I take them off. I can stuff a king size duvet cover in about thirty seconds!

your question is not stupid, I do not even know what a devet cover is. I never bought one, never registered for one.

I must sleep with a down comforter, usually they're just plain white and dry clean only, a duvet cover keeps it safe so it doesn't require frequent cleaning, not to mention the look is beautiful and you can change it up with different duvets.

I do the same thing. The duvet is great... I love that I can change it as often as I want and still have the warmth of down.

gotcha. We have a down but we store it in a trunk when we are not using it and put a comforter on the bed when I make it in the morning. My comforters are all dry clean only also
