Ok...PLEASE Read Attached Note From My Doctor Regarding WHY They Make You Take Two BETA Tests Before Giving Patients Their Results
Dear Keri,
It's always been a policy since I've been here about four years ago. However, under certain clinical circumstances (frozen embryo cycles, blastocyst embryos transferred) only one pregnancy test is needed. Under these cases, a false positive test resulting from the HCG injection that was taken prior to retrieval is less likely. You had a day 3 embryo transfer and thus, have the two tests. Please understand that we are not being cruel and "hiding" your test results from you. We mainly do it to help decrease the chance of the emotional disappointment from a false positive. If one went against our medical advice and insisted on getting the results, then we would normally plan on only doing one pregnancy test (normally on the date of the 2nd test), which in your case would be this monday. But this is rarely ever the case. My guess is that the women you are referring to either had a blastocyst transfer or a frozen embryo transfer cycle.
