OLAS Question
I want to apply to a few jobs listed on the site. On the Application Wizard, there is a section for Certifications. What am I supposed to put there? I am completely certified but never received anything from the state, except piece of mail that stated I passed each test.
TIA

Re: OLAS Question
Your certifications should be listed on the teach online site. For example, I am professionally certified in the following: Biology 7-12 General Science 7-12

Re: OLAS Question
Thanks...ok I went to the website logged in and it says nothing about me being certified. Do I add this info or does the state do it?

Re: OLAS Question
I got my certifications in the mail. They have your certification number on them...How long ago did you finish everything? Maybe it's in the process of being mailed.

They are no longer printing certifications that expire (provisinal certifications).
On the teach website: Click on teach online service. Click on accoutn information. In the scroll down menus, click certifications. Your certifications should pop up when you do this.
If they do not, there is either an error or you did not complete all the requirements.
Did you only take the tests? Did you pay the fee for certification? Did you send in all of your transcripts, etc?
If there is an error, you can call NYSED. Their phone system is a PITA, but eventually you will get through.

Thank you for all of your responses...I did call NYSED yesterday and I came to find out that my University never explained the certification process fully to me. I was told I just had to pass the test. I was advised to demand that they recommend me for certification. I swear this school has been one nightmare after another. At the rate I am going, between the school & the job market, I prob wont become a teacher till I'm in my 40's.

Re: OLAS Question
If the school recommends you for certification, it is a quick, easy process.
