Olive Oil and Other Oils
Can you substitute olive oil for another type of oil in a recipe? What's the rule to go by with that? I'm fairly new to cooking and DH and I were talking about it the other day. TIA!

Depends on the recipe. I wouldn't use olive oil in place of another oil in a baking recipe like cakes or cookies. IMO it is too heavy.

I always use Canola Oil for everything
I have Olive Oil and I'll use it to sautee garlic before making sauce but that is about it

Olive oil has a really strong flavor, compared to regular vegetable oils, which are very mild. In baking I always use vegetable oil, but for dinners and stuff I usually used olive. It's considered a "healthy fat," so I'd rather use that than something that has no redeeming health qualities.
