One of my friends was telling me today it's really expensive to go to Paris but I didn't think he meant that expensive!

If you really want to go to Paris, how about checking flights to London and then take the bullet train to Paris. It's about 3 hours, but it may be cheaper.

holy cow - what a difference! it's only about $700 RT from NY to London. I just checked again and the cheapest non stop flight from NY to Paris is on AA and it's $2056

I know you live in NY, but just out of curiosity, I checked Continental out of Newark to Paris, and RT from Monday to Monday is $591.

yea we can't go for that long. I was looking at Sunday - Saturday. plus we really want non stop.

Those were non-stop flights. BUT I put in Sunday to Saturday dates and OMG!!!!! $1900!!!!!!!!!!
ETA: Ahhh.. just realized that's because there is no Saturday stay, flights are usually more expensive. If you did Saturday to Saturday the flights are just under $1000

I didn't realize that was still a factor. I thought airlines did away with the saturday stay over years ago. or maybe that's just for domestic flights. so I just found a none stop Air France flight for $976. ok, that's a HUGE improvement!!!

for a lot of international flights you need minimum stay over Sunday, so yeah as MrsRbk pointed out, you'd have to leave on Saturday...

Very true. The airline assumes its a business flight and will charge you for it.
