DS in the ER and a PSA (OMG update #2+#3just added) just sent grandma to the hospital.
my ds (17 months) was completely fine all day and night on monday. i put him to bed at 10pm and 1 hour later he woke up vomitting. he literally vomited every 10-15 minutes till he vomitted bile (very yellow liquid b/c his stomch was completely empty). we brought him to the LIJ ER and after only 3 hours of vomitting said he was almost dehydrated.
we stayed there for 12 aweful hours b/c josh couldn't keep anything down. he was hysterical and didn't sleep for almost 36 hours.
we only left b/c his IV fell out while they were doing x-rays and they said we could try hydrating him at home and see how he does. he was better last night but hasn't held anything down today and we may have to go back and get admitted.
so my PSA- i wasn't aware how fast a child could dehydrate and we were lucky we went in before that happened. it can happen so fast so just go to the hospital! and there is an aweful stomach virus going around (my ds either caught it at the park or at the gym.) yellow vomit= bile.
plz pray josh can hold something down and doesn't have to go back to the hospital.
thanks!
UPDATE
well he held down about 1/2 a jello and about 2 oz. of water (all day) and the dr.'s said to try to keep him home and try to feed him again tomorrow. he only has a low grade fever so hopefully it was just a 48 hour thing and tomorrow he'll be interested in food and hold it down.
thank you so much for your thoughts and prayers!
UPDATE #2
well last night at 11pm my dh started violently vomitting w/ diahrea (sorry tmi) and went downstairs so he wouldn't bother my ds and (my was still very sick and tossing and turning all night)i. at 1:30 he called me "help help help!" i ran downstair to see him on the floor and called 911. they brought him to the ER with a blood pressure of 63/30! and he was in shock from being soo dehydrated. he stayed ther all night and is now home sick as well.
my ds started holding down milk at 2pm and although extremely weak from no food/liquid for 3 days is slowly getting better. hopefully he'll hold down the yogurt i'm going to give him after his nap.
this has been the craziest fastest virus i've ever seen!
i'm just hoping not to get sick b/c i'm 4 1/2 months pg.
