OMG, he has a loose tooth (and he's only 22 months)!
DS fell the other day and chipped one tooth and loosened another - both in the front, both on the bottom next to eachother. I'm trying not to freak out but the thoguht of him losing this tooth and that precious smile I love so much is really upsetting to me
Brought him to the dentist and they said that we just have to wait it out for two weeks and hope it heals itself and doesn't fall out or worse, need to be extracted!
anyone ever experience this before with their kids? Did the tooth turn black? Fall out? Need to be extracted? Urggg the whole thing is so upsetting to me...TIA.

Re: OMG, he has a loose tooth (and he's only 22 months)!
DS (now 11years old) fell out of the high chair when he was 11 months old and knocked out one of his front teeth. The tooth actually shattered in his gum and needed to be extracted piece by piece. Not fun.
I was freaked out by him missing a tooth, etc. But I have to say, he was SO FREAKING CUTE with that little gap toothed smile. It was the cutest thing ever, to the point that when he was 7 and the grownup tooth grew in, we were all disappointed!!
Now at 11, he does have pretty extensive orthodontia. The orthodontist feels that he would have needed braces anyway, but it's a little more extensive due to the damage sustained by the fall.
When he fell, the tooth next to it was loosened as well, but that healed up no problem, and it was very loose for quite awhile... I feel like it was several weeks, but it was so long ago I can't recall exactly.
If you have any other questions, FM me!!

Thank you for your response! I'm so sorry he/you went through that, that must have been scary. Glad it all worked out now.

The extraction part, which the ER pediatrician did, was pretty scary, and the next few days after that were bad because he was in pain, but after that it was no big deal. Like I said, he was so cute with his "hillbilly grin" as my brother called it, we didn't miss it at all!
HTH!

The loose tooth - did it heal to the normal position? I'm worried that his will heal out of place b.c it is loose.

Re: OMG, he has a loose tooth (and he's only 22 months)!
We recently saw a led dentist after my 1 year old fell and pushed back her front tooth. It wasn't actually loose but the whole tooth shifted. He said the tooth would probably reposition itself because the roots weren't fully rooted yet. It's been over a month and it doesn't look so far back--I think it is healing on its own. I know your situation is a little different, but I think there is a good chance it will heal.
ETA: dentist said if it were to discolor, it would happen in 2-3 weeks. I think we're out of the woods.
