OMG I almost let this woman rent our apartment! Edited to add story
We have an apartment in our house and we have been interviewing people to rent it. This woman came the otherday to see it!!!! We actually liked her and were going to ask for references

She never said anything about kids....she said she was single, worked long hours and liked to bake!! It is a tiny one bedroom!
Police: Lake Grove mom kept kids in house of filth
(07/17/08) LAKE GROVE - A Lake Grove mother was arraigned on four charges of child endangerment Thursday after police say she kept her children in a house of filth.
According to investigators, a neighbor called police to Denise Schnell's home, located at 3 Greencrest St.
Police say when they arrived, the house was infested with insects, littered with garbage and the basement was flooded with cesspool waste. They also say the children had not had any food for a week, had no beds and were left unattended for hours. Schnell was arrested at her job.
Neighbor Emie Turano, whose child was a playmate of one of Schnell’s children, says the kids reported emotional and physical abuse at the hands of their mother. She says she was appalled by the smell emanating from the house and the condition of home’s interior.
Schnell, 38, was taken to the hospital for psychiatric evaluation and released.
The children, who range from 2 to 15, are in the custody of their respective fathers and the home was condemned.

She may have been looking for a house for herself and leave the kids to the father. If it was after teh 17th, the kids were already in the custody of the father.
Either way, it's hard to believe she would not trash your place too. I heard there were fesces on the floor, etc... She was reported by someone as having an unhealthy place for the kids.

The house was condemed and her children taken away from her. She needs a place to live. Good thing you noticed that story. Probably wouldn't take good care of you dwelling.

Thankfully, you found out when you did - now you'll prob be all paranoid about everyone that comes through - I know I would be!
