OMG! i just had to evacuate my apartment!
i had to call the ambulance for teh guy upstairs. he kept asking me to help him..... over and over agian.....
i waited forever for the ambulance to come----it took them FOREVER.
they said it smelled like gas so the ambulance made us evacuate.
turns out it wasnt a gas leak so who knows.
i just was allowed back in. i was FREEZING. i looked like a big fool. all 3 barking shaking dogs and all.
scary.

ok, well they were doing constuction up in his apartment.
they left (but i didnt know that)
and i hear loud banging. i even said "Geezus!" but i thought it was them... then a few minutes later i hear yelling., (i was listening to musiic on the puter) so i listened harder and realized it was him saying
"help me, help me"
so i grabbed my cell and rushed upstairs.
he was leanign over the banister and i asked him what was wrong but all he kept saying was "help me" over and over agian. and speaking incoherently. i immediatly called 911 and asked tehm to send an ambulance.
throughout all this he is just still repeaitng help me ......
so i get off the phone with the operator and i told him "im going downstiars to let them in.... sit down ok"
then i went downstairs and waited FOREVER (i honestly cant believe how long this ambulance took)
i had to call them a 2nd time nad they assure dme one had left.
meanwhile he had managed to get himself to the window and was yelling down at people on the street to help him.
i ran back upstairs and told him just hang tight, the ambulance is on their way.
then he managed to say somethign about his head going bazerk and his heart pounding.
i said just sit down and i will wait for them at the door.
just as i was getting down there the people who work for our landlord came running in (im guessing he called them while at hte window)
so i told them what happened and i continued to wait for the ambulance.
then they came down and said it spelled like gas...
FINALLY the ambulance arrived (like 10-15 minutes later)
and they went up.
i came out of my apartment to see if i cna do anything or tell them what happened... and just as i was i heard the woman ask if there was anyone else in the building. i said "just me and my dogs"
she said "get your coat on, get your dogs and get out of here NOW"
so i did. except no coat
 and waited outside for about a half hour.
they took him in hte ambulance and i dont know if they ended up taking him to the hospital or not.
the fire dept came and said there was no gas so it was safe for me to go back in.
we still dont know what happened to him. i personally think it was a mini stroke.
i am not sure if he is upstairs now or not.

You don't know if they took him or not?
If it smelled like gas, maybe he left his gas on and he was having a reaction to that?
Yikes. I'm glad you helped as best you could and I hope the man is okay.

Jess - I hope you recognized what you did for this guy and for your whole building - and I hope you feel very proud of yourself for reacting so well in an emergency.
That & holy cr4p you are a very powerful person - next time wish for a few million dollars instead

when i got home there was a note on my door to call the guy who owns the store below me. maybe he has some info...
i hope he is ok as well. i feel bad for him.
and yes, i am thinking he may just be NICE to me from now on!
