OMG my dd is so upset
so since the kids are off this week I let them stay up a little later
so the movie Jersey girl just started at 9 and I have never seen the beginning with J.Lo in it well my 6yr old was watching it with me and then the part where she has teh baby and dies while giving birth comes on and DD LOST IT and she has been hysterical crying for 45 minutes now
dh just got home from the gym so he took her to get a snack because she was so upset
she never wants to have a baby now and keeps asking me if you HAVE to have a baby
I feel like she is scarred for life now

So weird - it happened to be on in the background- so I heard that scene going on....
Maybe you can explain how all 3 births for you were like - and maybe you can look through the "my birth story" forum here for some good birth stories, with the pictures of the babies, and tell her how wonderful it is to have a baby and very rarely things like that happen anymore?

 That's really rough, but look at it as a good life lesson. I think Liza's suggestion is a fantastic one. Be honest with her, but be very positive. You don't want this to be unresolved because THEN it will bother her. Close the issue up and help her move on. Poor baby

I would also give her an opportunity to talk to you about it, and share your experiences. She might be confused though at 6, and maybe just needs a chance to ask questions and be reassured.

she is in my bed asleep now
I did explain it was JUST a movie but she said (and always says) people REALLY DO die and thats what is upsetting her
so I just let her lay with me tonight and hopefully tomorrow will be better

Is it death she is having an issue with? If so, there are some great books out there - one is a beautiful book called The Fall of Freddy the Leaf. It talks about a leaf coming to terms with the autumn that is coming....

she doesnt think its fair that people have to die
she doesnt understnd why ....I tell her death is a part of life its just what happens but she doesnt want to "deal" with it ya know
