OMG someone sent me a picture of a horrific car accident victim

I'm sick to my stomach. Had my "friend" not tag the subject line as "Check out the house I want to buy" I would not have opened it.

It was a young teen girl who flipped over her convertible, thats all I can say without making the rest of you as sick as I am.

I am just at a loss right now. I called this person who let it go to voicemail and tore him a new one.

OMG that poor girl and her family.

Isd it possible it was a virus that sent out that email. I mean, what kind of person would purposely do that. Is this *typical* of your friend?

Actually there was a news story that I read about today regarding the family of a car crash victim. Somehow, someone got a hold of the photos and emailed the family the horrific pictures of her. I'm willing to bet its the same person. What a shame.

ETA:
California Highway Patrol officers leaked the pictures. Shame on them.

It's legit - there's an article on AOL news about it today. The accident was in 06 - but the pictures were leaked by the cops I guess.

I've seen those photos, they still turn my stomach when I think about them. She slammed into a toll booth at 100mph.

the parents have been going to court to get the pics removed. So far their efforts have proved futile.

such a tragedy for them to lose their daughter, and on top of that they have to worry that these horrific pics are circling the net. their other daughters have never seen them and i hope it stays that way.

Thats the pic of Nicky Catsouras -- the Porsche 911 girl.

I've seen the pics before--they are horrifying to put it mildly.

The California Highway Patrol took them after she was in an accident at 100mph with her dad's Porsche. For some reason 2 officers leaked the images and for the past 3 years, they have been all over the internet on thousands of sites.

The family has been suing and in court trying to get the sites to stop publishing them, without any success.

The father was sent the pics a few days after the acccident by some jerks and since then - it has been hell for the family apparently. I think there is renewed interest in them again because the next appeal on their case is coming up in June and there was an article in Newsweek about it recently.

A few days after the accident, Nikki’s father, Christos, who is a real estate agent, opened an e-mail that he thought to be a property listing. But that was far form the case. Instead, what he saw his daughter Nikki’s blood-covered face accompanied by the following caption: “Whoohoo Daddy! Hey Daddy, I’m still alive.” - from AC

Nikki, 18, had taken her father’s Porsche without permission and, moving at speeds estimated at 100 mph, was killed when she lost control of the sports car and slammed into a concrete toll booth on the 241 toll road in Lake Forest. Soon, nine images of her nearly decapitated body began appearing on Web sites and in e-mails sent anonymously to her family. Some who posted Web site comments or sent e-mails taunted the family; parents Lesli and Christos and three younger sisters. - from OC

The teen was immortalized in a sub-culture of morbidity and dubbed “Porsche Girl.”

Within days of Nikki’s death, the Catsourases were deluged with emails and text messages accompanying the grisly accident scene photos of their once-living 18 year old daughter. Some of the text messages and emails sent by mysterious cyber bulllies said, “What a waste of a Porsche” , “Whoo-hoo! I’m still alive!”, and “that spoiled rich girl deserved it.”
