OMG; this young ballerina was killed in a car accident b/c of snow...
My mother just called me; she and her husband were on their way back from guest performing in The Nutcracker in New Jersey....(she was in Center Stage...which ironically I just watched)

NEW YORK - A dancer with the American Ballet Theatre has died in a car crash in New Jersey while returning from performing in "The Nutcracker" in Pennsylvania.
The New York-based ballet company says 35-year-old Jennifer Alexander died Sunday night at the scene of the crash on Route 3 in East Rutherford.
A spokesman for the Bergen County prosecutor's office says the 10-car pileup is under investigation. He says there was one other fatality in another car.
Three other dancers were in the car with Alexander. One was her husband, who remains hospitalized.
Alexander joined the American Ballet Theatre in 1994. She was returning from a guest appearance in the Williamsport Civic Ballet's annual performance of "The Nutcracker."

Who did she play in Center Stage? I don't remember her and I have seen that movie A LOT of times. Either way, such a sad story. She was so young.

Yikes, my husband and I were driving home Sunday night from visiting with friends in NJ, the roads were very slippery. We drove home like 35-40 mph. We did see a huge accident involving about 10 cars...on the GSP ramp to Route 80. I wonder if that was it. I said a prayer, everyone was fish tailing, it was scary. What a horrible tragedy.

Oh my gosh! This is the first I've seen of this - I know her (I used to work at ABT) So sad.

Oh, I just read more about it on NJ.com. So sad. Her husband was another ABT dancer - I didn't realize they had gotten married - also in the corps, and he's in critical condition. It's just awful.

Horrible.
Everyone thinks snow is just a pretty decoration for this time of year.
Truth is, it's dangerous and countless people have died in car accidents due to it.
That's why I hate it so much!!
What a tragedy....

I was wondering if you might know her....ABT released a statement that someone posted on ballettalk...a site I should frequent more. They called her their "cherished" dancer; I was crying when I read it! Yes, Nicole Graniero (corps) was in the car, too. She seems to be stable.
