Mother's advice about car seats
Hi,
I need some advice about car seats. I have a new 2 door cavelier. And my husband has an older less safe 4-door car. I prefer to have the infant car seat in my newer safer car, but it is a 2-door.
I know it is not as convenient, but i was wondering if it is just as safe?
Any thoughts?
TIA

I don't know about safety but I am just picturing getting an infant seat into a 2 door car - we wrestle to get it into our small 4 door suv.
I would go to a car seat inspection place if you can - they can tell you the safest place for the seat in your particular car and install it for you.

http://www.safercar.gov/ and http://www.iihs.org/ratings/default.aspx
have crash ratings for the car in general. That should give you an idea of the "safety" of the two vehicles you have. (Newer isn't always safer, especially for a car seat in the rear. Airbags aren't a factor for child seats.)
As long as the crash ratings are equal, the convenience is a huge factor. 2 door cars are a pain to get an infant in and out of.
