omg...I was cleaning my cats mouth and I am dumb
he lost a tooth?
of course now he wont let me open his mouth
should I take him to the vet? he is 10
Updated- I am so dumb- there is no tooth missing- his lip is a little discolored.... I really over reacted on this one
I feel better now

my cat growing up started loosing his teeth too! i dont really now if we took him to the vet or not, but i guess its a good idea to take him just so he/she can look at the hole and make sure it wont get infected or anything!

Yes, def go to the vet. Could be infected, an abcess,e tc.

Don't feel bad! I freak out with anything health related with my kitty 
A few years ago when I first got him I came home and he had thrown up. It was blue. I was so scared he ate some crystals in the kitty litter or got into cleaning supplies. I called the vet right away and they told me to just watch his behavior, make sure he's eating/peeing/pooping, etc.
I calm down and a few minutes later and realize what it was: blue kitty treats that I had given him that morning.  I felt so dumb calling them back, but they were really happy that it was nothing.

I freaked! I almost lost him last year and still not over it!
I am so happy he is ok! this was the last thing I needed

Glad to hear that he didn't lose a tooth.
On a side note, taking care of pet teeth is really important. Do you brush them and get regular dentistries? Just wondering b/c you mentioned the discoloured gum. I'm not trying to scare you at all, it is more of prevention b/c bad teeth can lead to other more serious problems.

I do take care of his teeth
His gum isn't discolored...his lip was...I think from eating (he has white long hair so he gets black around his mouth fur)...he is fine now but is going to the vet for a check in a few weeks when I have more time

Sorry, I didn't mean to say you don't take care of his teeth. I just worry b/c I had a cat and had problems with her gums and teeth so I am extra cautious .
