Only been back to work for two days and have two pumping FAILS.
My first day back from maternity leave was monday and I was able to pump twice during the work day. The second time was around 3:30. Well at around 4:30, DH sees me and gives me a weird look and says, "i thought you were wearing a different colored shirt."
Well, I as wearing a shear blouse with a black tank underneath. I pulled down the tank to pump and I hadn't PULLED IT BACK UP!!! I was walking around with my super not so sexy medela nursing bra and my tank gathered underneath ahhhhhh so embarrassed and hope people thought my bra was a nude colored top LOL.
anyway, today is my second day back to work and I brought my pump, my attachments, my cooler baggy thing for the expressed milk on the commute home but NO BOTTLES/BAGS. well, correction, I had one 5 oz bottle from yesterday that I didn't use but that's it. I filled that already at 10 am and my boobs are getting super uncomfortable now at 1:30. The buttons on my blouse will probably be gaping at the seams in a few hours.\
grrr

I feel your pain! I've totally done both of those things! You'll get into a great routine soon and you won't have to worry about remembering anything. What I started doing was I just leave a box of the Medela bags with my pump (I have the Medela PISA backpack, so I put it in the top pocket) so I know I always have them. If you don't have a pocket with your pump, maybe you could leave a box in your desk at work?

Oh man. I feel your pain. I pumped 2-3x a day for 9 months - there are bound to be fails!
Best advice I can give you - get the medela bags you can pump into and leave them at work. Also leave at least one set of extra parts at work. You WILL forget the parts at some point.
Drug stores sell bags - usually Lansinoh, but you can pump one side at a time and hold the bag there. If you can't go get bags, then squeeze the milk into the toilet if you have to - better than leaking!
Good luck, and welcome back to the workforce!

Re: Only been back to work for two days and have two pumping FAILS.
thank you ladies! all good tips and I am definitely going to get extra parts (it's already a pain having to keep cleaning the one set) and also get more medela bags and keep them either in my pump in style bag or at work. I had run out of those bags and was trying out the lanisoh but didn't realize they didn't have the holes for the pump adaptors like the medela bags. Lol i've been using a hole puncher.
wow, 9 months DD is only 12 weeks so I have quite a while to go

I pumped until she was 1, and we still nurse at night and some mornings. And I still have bags in my freezer! It was a lot of work, but so worth it (to me)! You can do it - it goes by fast!

Yes, one year is my goal! I love nursing her but can do without the pumping so I'll be happy when that's over! You did a great job, momma!

Oh no, those are totally things that I would do! I walked out my front door the other day with one strap of my tank top pulled down and my bra totally exposed. Thankfully I realized right away... and then stood in my front yard trying to pull it back up while cars were driving by. Oops.

I used to pump at home and at work. I bought a second set of attachments to keep at work. Helped a lot.

Re: Only been back to work for two days and have two pumping FAILS.
I went back to work in May and have had my own share of pumping mishaps. (The first day back, I left the milk I pumped in the work fridge. Another day, I forgot the horns. Luckily I was only working 3 hours that first week.)
I keep an extra stash of everything at the office incase you forget something.
Is there a Target by your office. In a pinch, you can also run over there.
GL. It gets better as you establish a routine.
