Opening presents at 1st birthday
Did you open presents while guests were still there? When did you do them?

I guess it really depends on how many people you are having. We have not opened presents at the parties, we come back to the house, put the baby down for a nap then open the gifts in an orderly fashion!

We had a fairly decent sized party, about 60 people, and we opened gifts after most of the guests had left after we had cake. It was just family and a few friends and it was a nice end to the day

we opened it there, but it was about 40ppl and at my mom's house. If I had it out somewhere, I probably wouldn't have.

we didn't open at the party because we had a lot of kids and I thought they would get bored and anxious to go play with the toys that were being opened.

We opened after all the guest left. My parents and immediate family were still there but they are the ones that wanted me to open them.

We opened gifts after we got home.
Ours was a mostly adult party. We got a lot of envelopes with $$$.

At small parties, I really like it when people open gifts.
I can see how with big parties it doesn't work that well.

We had a small party for DS (just immediate family), so we only had 6-7 presents to open and we opened them at the party.
If we had a bigger party and lots of presents, I would wait till afterwards.

Nope. That would have been torture for everyone, including me. Too many kids running around who would've been into all the gifts and the adults would rather socialize than watch a 1 yr. old open presents. We took everything home and opened them the next morning with our DD.

We had a fairly large party at a ll for DD's 1st birthday so we did not open presents until we got home. My parents and in laws came back to the house with us and watched her (us) open gifts.

we had Mason's 1st b-day party at my parent's. WHen the party was over (which... BTW Mason fell asleep at cake) we opened it later when the majority left. Close family stayed and watched (when he got up from his nap only to sit for 2 mins then crawled away). LOL
