Opera Tickets at the Met
For my mom's birthday, I will be ordering tickets to see Carmen at the Met. I'm trying to figure out the best seats for 150.00 and under (per ticket), and I can't decide between Side Parterre, Grand Tier Rear, and Orchestra Rear.
Any suggestions? TIA!!!

Re: Opera Tickets at the Met
Did you check out the New York Opera at the State Opera House (I think that is what it is called)... it is in the same property. Maybe they offer cheaper?

Re: Opera Tickets at the Met
DH got me tickets to see La Boheme. We're sitting in the 4th row of the Grand Tier, but I don't think it's the rear. he said these were good seats.

oh wow, what a nice gift!
I'm such a novice at this - I want to make sure I make the right choice. I know absolutely nothing about seating for the opera, so I'm trying not to take a stab in the dark. Maybe I don't want seats that have "rear" in the name... Maybe the Side Parterre will be best... hmmm...

I've seen this twice, you'll love it!
We have season tix for the Met, and usually sit up in the balcony section (dress circle or family circle).
You don't really want to sit on the sides because the views are obstructed.

Oh...I wish DH would come see these things with me (or anyone for that matter!)
I studied Carmen back in HS French Class and I loved it.
I have no idea what the difference in the seats are...isn't there usually a seating chart to consult?
Have fun!

Re: Opera Tickets at the Met
first of all, Carmen at the met is worth EVERY penny and more.
we sat pretty close, in the orchestra, and dh said he'd rather be a little farther back, but more to the center, so I'd go for more centralized, even if it's not as close.
ENJOY it!

Any suggestions? TIA!!! IMO Side Partierre are fabulous seats. When I had season tickets eons ago that is where we had them and they were fantastic and very comfortable. Grand rear tier is OK too, but sometimes the sound can reverberate weird....I cannot explain it really, it just has an odd echo sometimes. That and you can see the subtitle machines more in the orchestra section.

Re: Opera Tickets at the Met
I've only been to one bad opera. It had something to do with oranges in it's title, I have no idea, it was so bad I don't even remember the name of it.
In case you don't have it.... Here is the seating chart for the Met.
ETA: Here is the New York opera
