Opinions on picture placement, please..

First, let me apologize for the crooked nature of the photos..I took them while holding the pictures up..haha..ok..here's the scenario..to me, this is a kitchen-theme picture...the first picture shows it over another picture because the owners left us a nice hole that the purple pic. is covering (the new pic wouldn't look right in its place..I tried). The first location is over an island in the kitchen area.

The second location is right next to the kitchen, in our study-type area, but over our little makeshift wine cabinet (tried to get that in the pic). If I put it in location 2, is it too far out of the kitchen to be a kitchen picture?

I'd keep the pic in the kitchen.
As for the hole in the wall, how big is it? We patched up a few holes (large and small) in our house and it's so easy. If it's a fist size hole or smaller just get the drywall repair mesh from home depot... spackle, sand and paint. If it's bigger just get drywall and cut the piece to size, then spackle around it, sand and paint. HTH.

I agree...it's definitely a kitchen picture. I would put it up in the first location and fix the hole in the wall that you are covering up.

Thanks for the suggestions but there is an issue with the hole-
it's big. I know how to spackle, etc., but I don't know the paint color and don't want to have to repaint the entire kitchen because of one moderately sized hole...kwim??
