Opinions on Toyota RAV4 or Hyundai Sante Fe
Can anyone share opinions about either the 2010 Toyota RAV4 4cyl. 4x4 or Hyundai Sante Fe GLS 4x4? I did comparisons on different sites, but I rather get real thoughts. Thank you!!

RAV 4 is a smaller SUV than the Santa Fe so you are not really comparing apple to apple.
Just because of the recalls, I would bypass Toyota at this point.

Re: Opinions on Toyota RAV4 or Hyundai Sante Fe
We were about to buy the Hyundai Sante Fe 2 years ago, but my FIL passed away and we inherited his car. We are now about to buy it, but we are trying to wait until they release the Hybrid version. There is talk it MAY come out within the year. My DH drives a smaller Hyundai and the gas mileage on their fleets are great! And their crash test ratings are pretty dang good.
We know people that have both cars, and each loves theirs for certain reasons. For us, we want the bigger car.

Ditto.
We just did the car shopping thing in this car class (cross overs), but we didn't make it to Hyundai so I can't offer an opinion on that make/model.
We looked at the Nissan Rogue, Honda CR-V, Chevy Equinox, Kia Sportage and Subaru Forrester.
Ended up buying the Rogue and couldn't be happier!
Good luck!

Re: Opinions on Toyota RAV4 or Hyundai Sante Fe
We had a Sante Fe and absolutely LOVED that car. I hate that we had to trade it in but there was no way to fit 3 carseats in it. My parents have a 2000 Sante Fe and the thing still runs beautifully.
They are GREAT SUVs!

DH and I both have the Santa Fe and we absolutely love them. i test drove the Rav 4 at first because i didn't want the same car as DH but decided that i liked having more room in the santa Fe.

Re: Opinions on Toyota RAV4 or Hyundai Sante Fe
I just got my 2010 Santa Fe SE AWD and I am in serious love with it I am so happy I went with it. I had a Mazda CX7 and looked at the Rogue, CRV, Equinox, Tucson, and Venza. I absolutely love it. I found that it was a little more expensive than everything (except for the Equinox which was more) but it had so much more plus was such a comfortable drive. I am so excited to drive it everyday!!

I love love love love my Santa Fe. It's a 2007 and I still love it as a brand new car. I have no complaints about it at all!

Do any of these have the optional 3rd row seats?

Re: Opinions on Toyota RAV4 or Hyundai Sante Fe
Thank you for all the replies! I agree that the Sante Fe has more room, and the back seat is def. more comfortable than the Rav4. I'll be deciding soon!
The Toyota has an optional third row seat, but it didn't get good ratings with consumer reports.
Thank you again!!

Re: Opinions on Toyota RAV4 or Hyundai Sante Fe
My DH has an older Santa Fe (2003) and LOVES it. My sis just bought a new one and LOVES it too. Honestly, Hyundai's have come a LONG way in both looks and reliability. (I recently saw the new Sonata on the road and it was HOT. It may be my next car! ) And in terms of reliablity- my husband has a 2001 Elantra that he uses to commute to Brooklyn every day. The car now has over 200,000 miles on it and is going strong- driving just as good as the day he bought it!
IMO they are way better than Toyota's at this point. With a Toyota you are paying for the name, you get SO much more for your money with Hyundais- and with the recent problems Toyota has had I'd take a Hyundai over a Toyota any day!!! JMO.

Re: Opinions on Toyota RAV4 or Hyundai Sante Fe
I think the Tuscon is actually the competitor to the Rav4- the Sante Fe is a lot bigger.
We got our Hyundai Tuscon about 2 weeks ago and could not be more thrilled with it- just a word of caution- they are super hot now and we had to wait 2 months to get one- but I highly recommend it
Hyundai offers a 5 year bumper to bumper warrantee, and 10 year powertrain- they are the only ones.

Re: Opinions on Toyota RAV4 or Hyundai Sante Fe
Funny this should be posted because DH and I are going to be buying a Santa Fe (hopefully soon) He just went on a business trip with his father a week ago and his dad rented one and DH LOVED it. I have been having a serious issue finding a car I am comfortable driving and a car that DH will fit in, because he is 6'9"!! But he said that he even had lots of leg room in the back - and that is really saying something. I just wish they came in cuter colors...I am such a chick!!

Re: Opinions on Toyota RAV4 or Hyundai Sante Fe
I just got the Santa Fe and I LOVE IT!!!!!
DS is a big kid for 2 and we have so much room in the back seat. My friend has a CRV and she says its really not big enough with kids.
We looked at everything comparable to the Santa Fe and felt the Santa Fe was the best bang for our buck. We bought the Limited AWD version and I couldnt be happier!!!
Also gotta love the warranty we added the extended warranty and got 10 year full bumper to bumper.

We got he Hyundai Tucson which is comparable to the RAV4. My husband hated the way the rear door opens on the RAV4.

Re: Opinions on Toyota RAV4 or Hyundai Sante Fe
i was leasing a 2007 santa fe. The only issue that i had with it was it lagged. There wasn't enough pickup for me. I did alot of highway driving so pickup was a big issue for me.

We have a Santa Fe and a Tuscon and love them both! I didn't like the Rav4 when we test-drove it, it felt more like a car than an SUV.

There are apparently 2 engine sizes with the Santa Fe. The 3.5 L engine that my husband has, has awesome pickup and is super powerful. I have read that the smaller engine size option is under powered. That could be why...

Agreed, we got the 3.5 v6 and have no issues.
