Opinions on whether he should stay in daycare?

So DD is coming anyday and DH and I have decided I will try staying at home for 1 year. Roman currently goes to daycare FT M-F and we were planning on having him stay until the end of October so I could have some adjustment time with baby #2. I'm second guessing myself if he should stay PT maybe 2 full days just for the educational/social aspect. He is doing great in his toddler class with the older kids. I feel bad pulling him out at 20 months only to put him back (who knows if there'll be space down the line when I want him to go back )

Also, I haven't done any research into church/local community preschools so I don't know the cost benefit. It would be around $695.00 for 2 days at his current place from 7-6pm if needed. What are the going rates for a preschool for a few hours a couple days a week?

Sorry to ramble on, just wanted some feedback.Chat Icon

I would keep him in part-time. It will be good for him socially/educationally. Plus it will give you a few hours to be alone with the baby.

I agree. If it doesn't work out you can always take him out.

ITA. Perhaps you can do a shorter day. Some of the centers I've looked at have hours until 1 and 3 rather than the entire day.

I would keep him PT at least. You never know how much "rest" you will need with DD coming. You might enjoy the "rest" of not taking care of 2 at the same time.

Socialization is very important at this age, and the only way to get that is in a group setting, like daycare. If you can swing it financially, it's definitely in his best interest. And yours, since it will help you having some Mommy and baby #2 time alone.

I think if you can financially swing it, i would leave him in part time, maybe not for a full 8-9 hour day but def for some interaction for him and some time for you.
You could use that time to rest, clean, run errands. THe work doubles with 2Chat Icon

I also agree--keep him in PT. When I worked, Katherine was watched by family 5 days a week. In April, when I stopped, I still had her going to those family members M, W, F. Currently, she still goes M and W. I wanted to keep her socialized and "on the scene." It works out great and even though I am technically never alone, it's sometimes just as good. Chat Icon

Also, I send Kate on Fridays for 2 hours to a playschool and it costs $690.00 Chat Icon Looks like you're getting the better deal!!
