Re: OPK question
Some people get a surge for more than the typical 'two days'. Some people get it for three days, some for only one day. However, some women get surges at different times throughout their cycle. Those women, sometimes have pcos. LH , which is the hormone the opks are measuring,is supposed to have a 1:1 ratio with FSH. (follicule stimulation hormone-causes follicular growth and eventually ovulation). If your LH has a higher ratio, to your FSH, there is a possiblility for pcos.
When you first detect an LH surge, basically , you can ovulate, anywhere from 36 to 24 hours later. (sometimes just a few hours later). The 36 hours would account for the 3 day positive opk :) It sometimes stays in a person's bloodstream longer.
Ok and the real, kicker, is that if you are constantly getting positive opks.......I would take a hpt.....because you may be pregnant :) Lh and hcg are very similiar hormones....and sometimes opks pick up on it.

Re: OPK question
Redstar, you are so knowledgable! Thank you very much. Well this is my first month using opks, and I've had a surge since Monday. Of course I was happy when I got it, and now confused that it won't go away. I will just have to see what happens, and of course BD all the way through it!

Re: OPK question
I find these so hard to use because I get a line and I imagine it is darker than the reference line.... it's so hard for me to tell!!
Are there any like the EPTs? That are more obvious??
