Oreo hurt his leg over the weekend...breaking my heart

I took him to the vet and they gave him some anti-inflammatory medication (it's a sprain). He still is limping every once in a while and the vet wants him to rest the next 5 days. The problem is that he wants to play. He keeps bringing DH and I his toys to play fetch and we tell him what a good boy he is but he needs to rest (lol...probably only understands the "good boy" part), so we don't throw it we just pet him. He gives us this look like "why won't anyone play with me???". It's killing me! He looks so rejected.

Part of me is thinking if he wants to play, that's a great sign. Since he can't speak and tell me how much pain he is in and I don't want him to get hurt further or aggrevate it, I just want to stick to vet orders as much as possible.
