Oreo truffles...
If you're crushing the oreos with a baggie and rolling pin instead of a food processor... what's the best way to get them fine and powdery consistency?
For some reason, I'm thinking the oreo cream filling will make it turn more of a chunky gooey consistency instead of fine and powdery?
Hope I'm wrong... For those who have made them with a baggie and rolling pin please share your tips...
Thanks!

I only tried it once....and I used double-stuf oreos...it was that consistency, but once mixed with the cream cheese, its like that anyway.

Re: Oreo truffles...
i used the zipploc and meat tendererizer "method." While some of the creme did stick to the bag, for the most part it crumbed pretty well. And by the time i used the mixer with the cream cheese, it didnt make a difference.

Re: Oreo truffles...
I just made them 10 min ago and i threw the cookies in the blender, worked just fine.
i started with the rolling pin but said hey what the hell..lets try the blender. and it crushed them to a nice fine powder.
I have to say these are not so easy to make. I mean..how the hell do you dip these in chocolate without it being a mess or buringing yourself with hot chocolate.
and the bakers chocolate bricks take a while to melt down in the double boiler.

Thanks for the replies!
Yeah I haven't thought of the melted chocolate part logistically yet lol... what if you roll them into balls and freeze them first for a while? Would that help? And maybe use skewers or toothpicks or a fork to dip in chocolate?

i tried a fork and it fell apart. so yeah, maybe next time i'll chill the balls first (no dirty joke intended) then dip in chocolate on a skewer. that would make sense.
i have a plateful of truffles chilling in the fridge..maybe i'll go chill the rest of the mix...

I freeze them on a tray or cookie sheet lined with parchment paper for an hour or so before dipping them. They hold their shape really well then.

This is what I did, too. Helped a lot!

Re: Oreo truffles...
back when i used to make these, i didn't have a blender or food processor. i threw them in a ziploc bag and pounded them with the bottom of a glass.
as far as dipping, i froze them and then used a toothpick. worked fine.
