Organic vs. non-organic whole milk?????

My daycare ( i live in PA) will give DS whole milk during the day.

My question to you ladies is: I have been giving DS organic whole milk (i just startign transitioning him) and my daycare lady says she will give him regular whole milk. So should i just send some milk for him during the day for her b/c I dont want him to drink anything with the Hormones in it? He will only be gettign like one bottle a day of milk at daycare anyway. Or should i just let her give him whatever whole milk she gives the kids?

I would check to see if their milk does have hormones in it. Almost all millk that I see in stores have no hormones, no antibiotics even though they are not organic.

That is all I care about.

In my experience, when you buy organic milk it does not expire for about a month. So you may as well just buy a gallon to keep there because it won't go bad right away and it will just give you that extra piece of mind.

I'd keep giving the organic at home and not worry about it at daycare -- its such a small percentage of what he has each day.

ITA. I have to say this is my biggest pet peeve. I am an organic mom for a reason, and it irks me when someone disregards my beliefs b/c it is not convenient to them.

ITA!! I have always given DD organic milk and if she was in a day care I would make sure it was given to her there as well.

And it doesnt expire nearly as fast as non organic.. another plus!

I would never expect a daycare to pay for and provide organic milk to my child. It's one thing if the provider flat out refuses to serve the milk I send it, but I don't think that was the OP's concern.

ETA: I wouldn't leave the gallon there, I would send the milk in the bottle for the day.

I agree with Summer, if you want him to have it, then send it in his sippy cup in the morning.

Right. I didn't catch that from the PP though with the "disregarding beliefs" etc. bit.

I would send a bottle or sippy cup of it each day. If you want him to be on organic milk then you should stick to your beliefs about it.

I send a thermos of organic milk every day.

My center requires a note from the ped for any special food requestChat Icon The note is taped to the room's refrigerator door.

If he's in a center there might be several substitute teachers, just to make sure everyone knows, I labeled my DC's sippys with "Organic Milk Only".

Ok I have decided I will send the milk to her. He is only getting like one bottle of milk per day there anyway.
