Organizing Your Freezer
I have a super, super tiny freezer. It has two small shelves (but 3/4ths of the top shelf has the ice maker bin in it and so essentially, I have less than 1.5 shelves). The door has two small rows that barely fit bags of frozen vegetables.
I tried to find a comparable picture online but no luck. This is the closest I could find to my freezer, except mine has smaller/narrower/shorter shelves both inside and on the door. It also has a much bigger ice maker.
EDITED POST TO REMOVE THE IMAGE because people seem to think it is my freezer even though I said it was a comparable picture for size, the closest I could find. I also listed what I have in my freezer and where, and never once did I mention waffles, LOL. I actually HATE waffles.
Right now, I cook pretty much every meal every single day. But, I am pregnant and I want to freeze at least 2 full dinners and quite a few lunches for DH, before I deliver since I know we will be relying on take-out more often and want to make sure he doesn't also have to spend for lunches or do all of the work since I will be quite tired.
I really need to get my freezer organized. Right now I have bags of ravioli and frozen vegetables on the door. On the top shelf i have bags of bread. On the bottom shelf I have one or two frozen lunches, boxes of boca burgers and breakfast sausages and a few other random items. It is pretty packed with just those things alone. Is there anyway I can rearrange it somehow or figure out a way to create extra space some magical way to fit more in there? I'd like to be able to add at least 1 casserole dish, and a bunch more pyrex food containers with meals in there....

Re: Organizing Your Freezer
That's a lot of waffles...can you take them out of the box to free up some space??
I'd consider using ziplocs and stackable storage containers.
Coincidentally, I received this link in an email today: Organize your freezer

Re: Organizing Your Freezer
Do you use the ice? Can you just shut it off and use the space the tray is taking up?
I wind up taking waffles and such out of boxes if they are in a bag.

LOL. that is not my freezer!!! I can't take out the boxes of waffles to save space because I don't own any boxes of waffles. I already am using stackable pyrex storage containers, but I am considering using more plastic bags instead. Thank you for the freezer link.

Unfortunately, we do use the ice. I wanted to remove it but DH is persistent about keeping it. The only thing we have in boxes is the burgers and sausages and they are all pretty well packed in there, if I took it out and put it in ziplocs it doesn't really save any room.

Re: Organizing Your Freezer
Doesn't sound like things could be better arranged to make space.
I'd take the bread out and put it in the fridge, freeing up that space in the freezer. Can you avoid putting the casserole dish in the freezer and just wrap up the food in foil/plastic bags ? The dish itself takes up a lot of space. Ditto for whatever you want to keep in the pyrex. I freeze soup and sauce in ziploc bags to save space. I keep my bread in the fridge, and it lasts about two weeks. Might be a little dried out, but definitely not moldy.

Sorry...your post was difficult to read because the picture scewed the screen.
I hope the link helps. I think there are other links on that page that may have more tips. My freezer is pretty empty so I didn't read all of them.

Thanks, I have always been so scared of using ziploc bags for some reason, if I could put the soup I make in the bags it would def. save a lot of space and the same with the casserole!!

Re: Organizing Your Freezer
Get the heavier ziplocs meant for freezing, and let the soup cool a bit before putting in the bag. Lay the bags flat until the soup freezes, then you can stand them upright.
