Orthro Evra (BC Patch) Scare!
ok im kinda freaking out! i saw this commercial for a lawyor one of those "have you been hurt in an accident?" ones, but it was all about teh bc patch, Orthro Evra. and im on it!
anyone hear bad stuff about it? i am wondering if i should try somethign new.

THere's a proven higher risk of blood clots with the patch- especially in smokers, and/or women inching close to the weight limit (200lbs.)
eta: They began that study a long time ago, and as soon as I heard the results, I switched off the patch.

I've heard about the higher risk of blood clots. That's why I've stayed away from it. I might have no choice now but to go on it soon though.

I was on it- and now I'm pregnant. I think the concerns with that are the same with the pill- risks of stroke- especially if you smoke, etc..

I spoke to my gyn about it (am not on it) and she said the clot risks are the same as the risks when taking the pill. I'm not sure if they'd ever win a law suit about it--it is listed as a possible side effect on all the pill info. and patch info. It's a small chance, probably less of a chance than of complications during pregnancy or childbirth.

I had heard that a young girl was on the patch and died from a related blood clot....but I kind of just thought it was an urban legend

i was on i had one problem with i got a rash from it was werid cause i was one it for about 6 months then i got the rash so i went on something else. BUt i had no other problems with it at all

do you move it? i switch sides every week. otherwise i get a rash where the patch has been.
