Oscars!!!!
He made his point. The elephant in the room was addressed. No need to drag it on throughout the whole show. Let it be what it's supposed to be about.

Honestly at this point enough is enough...I get the point...we all do but going on and on and on about it is just not helping in my humble opinion...thats all he has....not impressed with his presenting tonight.

Re: Oscars!!!!
I'm Sorry. I don't get it. And I know I'll get flamed but don't people get snubbd every year?
Is it not possible the best performances happened to be by white people?
And if someone was snubbed (I hear idiris elba and Michael b jordan) is the reasoning bc of race?
If so couldn't many actors over many years of all different ethnicities say the same
I'm just confused

Oscars!!!!
The worst Oscars by far. Enough is enough. While I agree there is no diversity but it is not a black/white thing. What about the Asians, Hispanics, Indians? It should be about all diversity not just black/white. The issue should be with the producers and film companies on what roles they are offering minorities rather than blaming the Oscars. I feel bad for those that won this year as the spotlight is totally off of them.

ITA, by far the worst. Would have turned it off a long time ago if it wasn't Leo's year and of course that's one of the last. They should have made the point and moved on.

That's how I feel about it. Wouldn't it be more racist to give awards/nominations to certain people not because they did that great of a job but because just because "we don't have enough representation from that race"?

I think being snubbed is only a small part of a greater fight. I think the unfairness arises in casting and movie producers, writers, film industry who do not make nearly as many Oscar worthy roles for African Americans as for Caucasians. I don't know enough about it to debate or have an opinion but just wanted to share the other side.
And regarding not enough representation. There is a chicken and egg argument. If only one or two Oscar worthy movies are made with the goal of casting for a black male or femalr then you obviously will not have that representation. Kind of like supply and demand. Again. Just sharing the other side of the argument.

Oscars!!!!
I did not think Chris Rock was entertaining at all. I really loved when Neil Patrick Harris hosted.
I was surprised at how many awards Mad Max won. And a little surprised that Spotlight won, though it was a great movie. I thought the Revenant would take it. Other than that, yawn.

Re: Oscars!!!!
I did not care for the new format. I personally like when the winners say the names. I was shocked that Stallone lost. I thought mad max would win a lot because the pundit on the today show said it would be a landslide for them. He was right. I am thrilled spotlight won. The subject is a really important one and I hope that the Pope holds the bad actors and those that hid them, responsible.

Except that they are making movies that should have minorities - they're just casting white people in those roles (Scarlett Johansson in an Asian manga movie, Jake G in an Egyptian role, Emma Stone as an Asian in Aloha, etc).

Yes, this. The whitewashing is problematic. It's what Chris Rock called "sorority racist" and I think he hits the nail on the head.

Re: Oscars!!!!
I think it's terrible that in this day and age, all races aren't considered more for all these parts. Poor representation from Hollywood in this aspect, 100%.
However, last night was too much. I liked Chris Rock's speech in the beginning and it should have ended where he explained that they just want the same opportunities. I thought it was great. After that it was too much. I also loved that he started with it, addressed the elephant in the room and get it out of the way.
I hope this opens eyes that we need to broaden the actors we choose for roles.
