other color suggestion then tan

We have a forest green couch/loveseat/chair set and are trying to figure out what color to paint the walls. The obvious color choice is a neutral tan type color. Has anyone done anything different with green couches?

Chocolate brown!

I tend to lean more towrds the dark colors, Dh would like to do more of an off white. The problem with the room is that there is no natural light at all- not one single window (basement playroom.) There is plenty of overhead lighting, but the not natural light part scares DH from doing a darker color. Chat Icon Chat Icon

yeah i loooove eggplant!!! i think it looks so classy & rich & different.

I'm not scared of color...I'd even say a deep sunset/orange to really enhance the green, but that might be too much for some..Chat Icon

I wish we could do an accent wall, but the room is kind of shaped like a rectangle. When you walk in the room, the front half will be a tv area, then the back half of the room will have an office, foozeball table, and more kids stuff. The shorter walls are on the ends, so I think it would look funny,

I like the idea of eggplant, but #1 I don't think DH would ever let me get away with that, #2 it's another dark color- which DH doesn't want. Chat Icon

I would definitely say brown. Doesn't have to be a really dark brown, if DH is against dark. My living room and family room are both painted different colors of BM Brown. I'd say they are medium browns - not too dark and not too light. Let me know if you are interested in seeing them. I can post pics tonight. My couch in the living room is off white and my couch in the family room is burgandy, but I have a dark green computer cabinet in the family rom.

Another suggestion would be a lighter mossy green. California Paint has a color called Moselle that I love. I had it in my last house.

Re: other color suggestion then tan

why dont you do a dark color on the bottom, then a chair rail, then light color on top. itll make you both happy. the dark color will anchor the room and look great with the couches and the lighter color will keep the room bright.

i LOVE dark colors but didnt want to overpower my bedroom. so i did the bottom half a really dark espresso and the top a lighter cream and it gave me enough of the dark.

I actually suggested the same thing and because of the sheer size of the room, DH turned that idea down too. It would be a lot of work to put up the chair rail (and $$) and then double the painting. I really feel like he's just going to find something wrong with everything I suggest. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

it's not a lot of work to put it up at all. i can actually do it myself Chat Icon and the painting is just as easy as if it were one color.

good luck deciding (and getting DH to agree)
