Our Adoption Update

Our China Adoption Update:

As of July 1st, 2009 we will be waiting for our referral for 3 years...

Well, we received a packet to update our home study, fingerprints, child abuse clearance, medical, finances and I think that is it....

Well, I called our Agency yesterday to ask a question about the paperwork and it turns out they have recently started a small Special Needs Group (SN) (did somebody forget to call me and inform me of this ??? ! or ask if we 'might' be interested - urggh). I mentioned I would be interested to discuss this further after I spoke to DH. I ended up calling back later in the day for another question on the paperwork updates...and ended up talking about the SNGroup...well, I filled out the form, and said "add us to the group"... We don't have to get off the NSN line we are on, but if a child is offered for review, and we accept the referral, then we do loose our NSN spot. So.... we said we'd be interested in Cleft Palate/Lip(repaired or needs repair), Repaired CHD, scarring, and I think I might add club foot, I think there were 2 other items, can't remember right now. My heart is totally open to this - SNs can range from MILD, to extreme, so now it is time to do more research, finish this paperwork that needs updating, let it all sink in...it may be that we won't have to wait another year +/- (if things don't speed up over there).

So that is our little update; I really can't tell what my feelings are...but I know my heart is not torn, and I haven't been able to concentrate at work, and I guess I feel good about this decision and DH is totally on board with it !

I sent you an email but I forgot to add that if your going to consider special needs, make sure that it is updated in your homestudy that you are approved for one and check with the agency if you need to update your letter of intent that was sent to China.

My coworker's sister was on an adoption list for China for over 3 years. She just got the call in March that they would be welcoming a little girl home - by the end of April she was home!

I truly cannot believe that the wait has turned into this many years. You would think that they do not have children WAITING for homes!!! So frustrating.

Sandra I just saw this.....I am praying for you and Scott to get your baby soon-- I can't believe how long it takes, it seems so cruel....but it will be worth it!!
