Our baby BOY has arrived!
I woke up at 7 am on March 25th. I was having contractions that were about 30-60 seconds long every 6-10 minutes. I had a doctors appointment at 11 am so I decided to get ready. I knew I would have the baby that day so I told DH that he would be missing school. I was too scared to drive with contractions so DH and the girls dropped me off at the doctors. I got called back and got half naked and sat on the examine table/chair. I was sitting there waiting for the nurse to come in the room and my water broke! That was around 11:30 am. I called DH and told him "I think my water broke". I was freaking out. I was so embarrassed and afraid that it wasn't my water. I have never had my water spontaneously break before so I was in denial. I stuck my head out the door waiting for someone to walk by. Luckily the nurse did and then all the girls in the office rushed over. So embarrassing! The nurse told me to throw on my pants and get to the hospital. I called DH and told him to come get me and take me to the hospital. When we got to the hospital DH had to stay in the waiting room and wait for my stepmom to meet him there to take the girls. I went to check in. They had me stand there and wait for 10 minutes in the waiting room with my pants soaked! Then they finally took me back. The nurse checked me and I was already 5cm! The contractions were hardly hurting and I normally have back labor so I didn't think I would be that far without all the pain. I was really worried about missing the chance for the epidural. Since I was dilating so fast they let me cut in front of the epidural line! Before they inserted the epi I was already 7-8cm and the contractions still were bearable. There is a HUGE difference between regular labor and back labor! My dad and DH went to go get food while the doctor went to check me again. I was fully dilated and ready to push so the doctor told me to call DH and tell him to bring his food back to the room. So we waited for DH to return and then began pushing. I pushed through roughly 4 contractions and out he came! The doctor had DH announce "its a boy"! It was a great moment! So Declan arrived at 3:37 pm just about 4 hours after my water broke in the doctors office. While waiting for the baby scale to come and the nurses were trying to guess his weight. No one guessed over 10 lbs!
Declan Thomas was born at 3:37 pm on March 25(4 days past my due date) weighing 10 lbs 2 ozs and 20.5 inches long!
After he was born they transfered us to the recovery room. I was getting checked over by the nurse when I started to hemorrhage. The room quickly filled with nurses and I ended up with tons of shots and pitocin to slow the bleeding. Luckily it was handled quickly and was the only real bump in the road for us.

He was the biggest!

Wow, you go girl! He's gorgeous. You're my hero for pushing out a 10 lb. baby. I'm also glad to hear you say there's a huge diff. with back labor. I had back labor and recently had a convo w/my MIL. She was trying to tell me that her menstrual cramps were worse than contractions from labor. I felt like she thought I was a wimp b/c I was telling her how bad back labor was and I would've died w/o the epi. I'm hoping this time is diff. You give me hope!! :)
