Our neighbor has had their truck parked infront of our house since Sunday night
Our nieghbor parked their truck infront of our house on Sunday and we didnt mind b/c the block was filled with cars b/c everyone was having company for Easter. Well...now its Wednesday It's annoying b/c it is a huge Ford Expedition, he is parked in DH's spot and we can't see when we are backing out of the driveway b/c his truck is so big. We know they are home b/c we have seen the kids. DH is starting to get ****** but I dont want him to say anything b/c I dont want to cause any tension (you never know when people are going to over react). I am going to give it until Thursday I guess. It's just annoying b/c you look out my dining room window and there is this big teal Ford Expedition right there. They live diagnally from us so it's not like they dont see it there...did they forget they had another car?

If it's blocking your view when pulling out of your driveway, I would talk to them immeditately.

I agree with PP, I would go over and talk to them. Your concerns are reasonable, and it would totally annoy me too! I always thought there was some unwritten rule that the spots near your driveway or in front of your house belong to you?

You can talk to them but they have every right to park there that you do. You don't "own" the spot in front of your house.
If you are upset over it, just park your cars in front of their house. Maybe they will take the hint.

I agree- they can park where ever they like-
I wouldn't waste my time being upset over something so trival- it's not like it's going to be there forever

I have to agree...Saying something may just create tension. They will move it eventually.

I hate when people park in front of our house. On the weekends, we always leave one of our own cars out front so no one else can. And in our town you can't park overnight in the street so that helps.

I can't stand the rude behavior of neighbors. I hear ya, no one wants to see their truck blocking your view.
RUDE
I would say something (I have in the past).

I guess I don't understand this way of thinking because I grew up within the city limits, in Brooklyn.
IMHO, the only place that can be considered "your spot" or your "DH's spot" is in your own driveway.
The spot on the street in front of your home does NOT belong to you ... and saying something to your neighbors in this matter will likely only turn out negatively.

I truly don't understand why people get upset over this.
I am trying to picture you at the window every so often "Yup! that HUGE teal Ford Expedition is *still* there!
If you came to my door to tell me to move my car off a public street I am pretty sure I would over react, so you on right on the money there.
I mean if it was someone sketchy, I'd just call the police - my neighbor? no way...

ITA! I'm sure it is annoying. We fall into a routine and convience is also a factor. My folks had a "huge problem" with one of their next door neighbors constantly parking in front of our house (even when a space was open in front of their house). Once pop & mom began parking in front of their house almost immediately freed the space in front of their house. These neighbors now either park in front of their house or in front of another neighbor house who only parks in her driveway.

Re: Our neighbor has had their truck parked infront of our house since Sunday night
Honestly, I can totally understand the OPs frustration. DH and I were looking at a house to buy- it had a 1 car detached garage and the driveway was only wide enough for 1 car. We figured that one of us would park in the driveway and put the other car in front of the house so we don't always have to back out one car to let the other through. The house is in our town, so we pass by all the time. There is another person's car in front of the house ALL THE TIME. Maybe it sounds trivial, but we decided to stay away from that house for now because it's obvious that the parking situation would be uncomfortable and we don't want to go into a new home and immediately make enemies with the neighbors who have obviously grown accostomed to using the front of this house as their private parking space.
And, we know it's not the homeowner's car. Already covered that...

Re: Our neighbor has had their truck parked infront of our house since Sunday night
I am not going to say anything b/c eventually he will move it b/c he will need it but it is strange. The neighbors on my block are all pretty close and friendly and everyone who has to park in the street generally parks infront of their own house...I think it is generally an unspoken "rule" out of courtesy and respect for your neighbors to do this...whether it's a public street or not. I would never leave my car infront of my neighbors house for 4 days and not move it at all...I think it is rude!
Even another neighbor came over to me laughing and was like what is so and so's truck doing infront of your house for the last 4 days, did he move in?!? Especially being my block is an L shape and his house literally takes up half the block on one side, he has tons of space to park his car
