Our Newest Addition!
While DH was very adament about only adopting a maine coon, I convinced him to take a look at "Chester" in Selden's Petco last week. The poor little kitty was apparently abandoned outside at three months old by someone whose new apartment didnt take pets He was left to fend for himself until he was Rescued by Compassionate Friends. Sushi the Cat is none to happy with her new brother right now as evicenced by all her growling and hissing but I'm confident that they will grow to love each other and be great playmates. Considering his sad start, he is a big fat mush and at 5 1/2 months old is bigger than Sushi. Even though he is a bit frightened and is getting aclimated to us, he loves to be held and will lay in our arms until we put him down. Another thing about "Chester" is that he was apparently born with only 1/2 a tail. The vet said it is not an injury and he was born that way Why they chose to call him Chester instead of Stubby or Stumpy I have no idea, but either way his new name is Miso the Cat. So now we have Sushi and Miso. So...without further ado....MISO THE CAT!

Awww! He is so cute.
I have a black and white boy cat too and he is the most affecionate animal I have ever met.
I got him and his sister at Petco too- through Heart and Soul animal rescue though.
'Good for you for giving him a loving home.
I am sure Sushi will warm up to him soon enough!

Guess what you have a Manx! As soon as I saw his pic I knew it. Looks like our Stubby.

you probably have a longy!!! congrats, he will be very simular to a dog when he get's used to everyone. Our manx is now playing ball with us.
We are looking for another Manx to pair with our Stubby.

Thanks for that link. the rescue people have this guy pegged as a generic DSH but after reading all about the Manx and the million other sites I could find, you are definetly right....he is a Manx...and we LOVE him! What a personality he has! Hope you find a new manx addition soon!

See...and after having him a few days I feel like changing his name to "Rabbit" because of the way he hops around...and his cut little rump reminds me of a rabbit too
Think it might confuse my 6 month old son if we called the cat, Rabbit though

our cat has a short tail too (you can't see it but you can feel it when you pet her) and 2 of her 6 kittens had abnormal tails. one was slightly shorter than it should be and the other was short and a zig zag!

Sadly not. Chester is trying so hard. It is very obvious that he was socialized with other cats because he desperately wants to play with her. Sushi is not having it. It probably doesnt help that he wants to chase her and she is not taking to that too well. He hasnt given up yet though. Today's escapade is him jumping up on her condo. This has typically been her safe haven but not this morning. He jumped all the way up and sat on the top perch and started talking to her Of course her reply was a hiss but anyhoo...at least she didnt jump down she held her ground hissing and growling and he just sat there talking up a storm at her. Eventually he got down because I guess she was "not listening to him" but at least they are able to be in the same general vicinity without an all out hissy fit from her. Progress is being made. I am hoping for the best. I do try to put him in the bathroom or bedroom periodically to let sushi at least eat and use the litter box.

Awe poor Sushi! - i can imagine how she felt when he was in her condo! Its nice to see he really wants to interact.
I am kinda scared with stubby she seems very much into being the only cat but i think she needs to be socialized with another cat (she used to live with five outside when she was a stray) so that is why we figure a kitten she will adopt too quickly since hopefully the mommy gene will kick in. I need her not to depend on us for attention (dh goes home for lunch to play with her for a half hour) and when i get home i give her about an hour of play/cuddle time. I can't keep doing this daily and if we go out forget about it - we get attacked when we come back or her back is turned to us for about 20 mins. She is the most clingy cat I have ever met but we love her and hope she will keep making progress and hope the kitten will help out.
