EXACTLY!!! You guys would have to have seen it to see the grossness in and on the cabinets. Like I said the pictures are deceiving. When we saw it on MLSI, I thought, what a beautiful kitchen, we have to go and see this house. Well when I walked in that door, I couldn't believe the smell or the grossness that they lived in. Dog & Cat pee and poop everywhere, inside and out. The smell was really bad. But the smell is gone now because the carpets are gone now. But the grossness still remains in the house, until everything is done. We have hardwoods to redo, kitchen remodel, new tile and of course painting the whole house. Don't get me wrong, we could have cleaned them to the best of our ability, but I think I would have been grossed out for a very long time, right along with my DH. Chat Icon

that is gross. Chat Icon but then again the cats were peeing in the shower downstairs. Does that count as gross enough? Chat Icon Chat Icon

We figured, we had the money now so we should do it now. We had to redo the floors anyway, so we figured we might as well do the kitchen now before we have any kids. This way everything will be done before we move in and we will be happy with it. We still have many more projects to do over the next couple of years, but they will have to wait for more funds. Chat Icon

Don't worry, I'm sure before you know it you will be remodeling yours too. Thanks and I will keep posting pics! Chat Icon

Congrats on getting so much done this weekend! Chat Icon Chat Icon It's going to look beautiful when it's done!

I know what you mean about things being worse than they seem--the cabinets look nice in the pictures, but I'm sure they were disgusting. I wouldn't say ours are disgusting, but they are old--I think someone put new doors on the existing wood cabinets, and I cleaned them this week. They weren't horrible, but worse than they seemed when we were looking at the house. Though we're not getting them replaced now, since we may want to bump the kitchen out at some point.

Can't wait to see what you guys do this weekend!

Yes I think we are going with the color all the way to the right. "BM - Carlisle Cream". We don't want to go to dark since all three rooms are open to each other. DH wants to keep it light. Yes Cherry Wood with Stainless steal appliances. I can't wait. And we are getting Blue Pearl (it's a grey/blue color) granite for the countertops. Not sure on the blacksplash yet though.

Thanks! Really the pictures made them look nicer then what they were. We probably could have cleaned them really well, but we found out that the base cabinets were not level and we want granite and you have to have level cabinets for the granite. Either way we wanted a new kitchen in the next 5 years, so we are just doing it now instead. We had to redo the floors completely and we are getting all hardwoods, so DH didn't want to do a half a$$ed job with the floor and then have to redo the floor in 5 years when we would have redone the kitchen cabinets. I'm happier with getting the kitchen now anyway. Chat Icon No gross stuff from previous owners.

Hi! Nice to see you back on the boards after your move. Hope all went well.

Yeah we got a lot done! Chat Icon Things are moving along. Hopefully the floors are getting demo'd today. I'm taking a 1/2 day today to go to the house and see what is going on out there.

That would be nice if you guys can bump out the kitchen. I always love nice big kitchens. Worth it to wait!

I think we are painting this weekend, the apartment that is. Just have to pick a color. Chat Icon

Believe me, the cabinets were gross on the inside. The countertop was very scratched up and had drips of nail polish all over it. They didn't take care of anything. The whole house is gross. Little by little, we are getting rid of the gross and replacing it with new. At least I won't feel like we are living in their house, I will feel like it is our home. That is the important part.

Yeah we found all sorts of things under the countertop and under the cabinets. The kids lost all there toys in every part of this house, even the backyard. Chat Icon
