Our Stupid Landlord... (long vent)
We rent the bottom floor and the basement of a 2 family house. Our upstairs neighbors recently moved out and our LL is trying to rent out the upstairs (which is a complete craphole).
He decided this afternoon(while DH and I were both at work) to clean out the entrance hallway and throw everything out. He threw out a ton of our stuff, straightened up the area where we have all of our coats and outer-wear. He also took it upon himself to get rid of the water bottles (7-gallon Poland Spring) that we had on the back deck. I don't know where they are now.
I understand that "technically" this is his house, but we pay the rent and if he wanted things straightened up, he just could have asked. It's not like we are teenagers. We are responsible adults who would have appreciated not having our stuff thrown out, re-arranged and messed with.
The real kicker is that he lives right next door and his freakin backyard and side yard looks like something out of Sanford and Son. This guy is a junk collector. AND we have been asking him to fix the light in our kitchen for 4 months and he hasn't done it yet. DH and I dine by candlelight almost every night. Not quite as romantic as you might think....
We need a house of our own.

A bunch of stuff is in the trash pails next to the house. I'm not going digging through them, though. I called him earlier to see what he did with the water bottles that we pay a deposit on, but he didn't return the call.
Sooooooooooo annoying!!!!

If you want to make sure you don't lose anything; I'd start digging through the trash pails. Unpleasant, but you may find your stuff. I'd also get on the phone with him right away and remind him that the house may be his, but everything in it is yours. If he removed your belongings from your home, it may constitute theft. I don't know how far you want to go, but you deserve to have your stuff back, and you certainly DID NOT deserve for this to happen.
