Our Weekend Projects

On Saturday we clean up our driveway/side yard. Here are some before, during and after pics.

First we took down the weeds or vine bush, not sure. Then there were rocks in the soil that needed to be moved because we want to pave all the way to the back. Lots more rocks then we thought. Chat Icon Chat Icon

Before we bought the house - this is what the sellers had in the driveway/side yard.

During closing - sellers still cleaning up the driveway / side yard.

Then on Sunday we had to start pulling up some rug that is in the apartment and den area. It's very dirty. The dog & cat hair and the urine stains. Chat Icon Chat Icon We had to wear masks. It was glued down to the cement slab of the house (it's a hi-ranch, and this rug is on the ground level). It was a very hard job. We have 3 more rooms and a hallway that has all the same kind of dirty rug!Chat Icon

There was vinyl tiles under the rug. As you can see with all the urine stains. Chat Icon

Done! Now we have to put down new ceramic tile after we pull up the rest of the rug in the other rooms.

Scott, I just don't know. It makes me sick, but we know that when we are finished with it, it will be beautiful! We got a good deal and now we can decorate the way we want.

Here is what one of the hallways looks like. (Yuck)

Re: Our Weekend Projects

Wow you guys are really moving along on this house. Nice work. We had carpet glued down in our master bedroom closets. It was no where near as much as you had to pull up. Thank god. Just remember once it's over you will be able to relax and the feeling of doing it yourself is awesome.

Yeah we are trying to move along as quickly as possible. We would like to get in there by Sept. and the project list is long. Yeah it is a lot of work, but you are right it will be an awesome feeling once it is done. Chat Icon Thanks!

Congratulations!!! You guys did a load of work this weekend. Pulling up the carpet must have been gross, but it will look so much better.

The tiles are really gross--they must have never taken their pets outside! Chat Icon

Things are moving along--hang in there. Your home will be beautiful soon!

Re: Our Weekend Projects

Thanks everyone! We feel really good about the progress of our projects. We have plenty more to do and I will take more pics. We just can't wait until it's all done.

We don't know what they did with their animals. I don't think they treated them well, so I think the animals did it on purpose to get back at them. But the owners never cleaned it up either. They even would pee right in the shower stall. I can't wait to bleach that bathroom. It's the bathroom in the apartment area. It will be all nice and clean for our future tenant. Like I said lots of work still to be done. Even the kitchens are gross. Don't even get me started. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Thanks again everyone! I'll update with more pics as we do more projects. Chat Icon

Good work!!
I know how you feel - we found a field of dog sh!t and pee in the crawl space under the house... our list is long as well but is getting shorter - we closed on May 9th and hope to be in there in about a month!
Good luck! Can't wait to see your progress!

Thanks! Chat Icon What is wrong with people? Animals go outside to go to the bathroom. Just gross!Chat Icon We are figuring on the same time frame 2-3 months before we get in. It will be well worth it in the end. Chat Icon Can't wait to see your next project finish. You inspire me when I see your progress. Chat Icon Good Luck with your projects!

We couldn't believe it either, but I have a lot of vision for this house and so does my DH, so that is why we bought it. It will take a couple of years for us to finish all the projects we want to do, but it will be the way we want it in a couple of years.

Thanks for the positive feed back everyone! Chat Icon
