2nd question - when did you guys finish the school year?

Last day for students was June 5th, mine was June 6th.

Re: Out of State/Earlier School Year Teachers...

I think I go back around the 18th. I am in NC as well. We get out earlier, though, right? That's got to count for something! I think our last day was the 10th of June this year.

I can see how you would be upset, though, since you are spending so much time up in NY. Kind of like having a foot in both worlds.....

Re: Out of State/Earlier School Year Teachers...

I totally know how you feel....my Dh lived in NY for almost 2 years after we moved to NC- he would come down for weekends, but during the week I was on my own.

Now that he is here full time, we really don't go to NY that much at all- maybe a few times a year...and that has helped with feeling like I am "home" down here......

We were SUPPOSED to be done like June 13 (with teacher workdays on the following Mon-Wed <half days>) but wound up finishing on June 6 with students (last day for teachers June 11) because we used NO snow days.

To use NO SNOW days here is quite the feat as they shut the schools for even the THREAT of snow it seems. makes my DH who is from Ohio shake his head every winter.Chat Icon

Hey! We didn't use any snow days either!Chat Icon

Seriously - we didn't use any hurricane days - actually what happens with those is there are all these staff development days throughout the year where the kids have no school but we are there (too many IMO) - if we had used up hurricane days - they would have made the students come in on the SD days for a regular instruction day.

Teachers go back the 18th, students come back the 25th. I live near Annapolis, MD.

Same here, except I am right outside Charlotte NC.

I also learned the hard way how awful it is NOT to get the Jewish holiday in October. We have a straight shot from the 1st day of school to Christmas break--the only thing in there is a 2 day reprieve for Thanksgiving Chat Icon

Re: Out of State/Earlier School Year Teachers...

We get off Yom Kippur and one day of of Rosh Hashanah - which really pizzes me off - it's a two day holiday - it's like a business giving employees off on Christmas Eve and open on Christmas Day. I always have to use my own time off for it.
