Outdoor Furniture Question
So I've been seeing a lot of this lovely outdoor furniture lately- rataan with lovely cushions and pillows, beautiful tables that look like they should be in my living room rather than out on my patio, etc.
My question is- doesn't this stuff get destroyed outside in the harsh heat and sunlight of summer ; not to mention the rain etc?
Do you cover it all every night? Do you take the cushions inside or store them in a deck box or something?
I'm just curious because as much as I love the look of this stuff- I don't see how it's practical for outdoors...
What do you guys do?

Re: Outdoor Furniture Question
We put our cushions away in the shed when it rains.
Then for the winter all the furniture gets covered.

Re: Outdoor Furniture Question
we were just on a new cruise ship, and they had all this furniture and cushions that looked like it belonged indoors
And with the salt water and sun it still looked great.
We plan on covering in the winter and putting the cushions away when it rains during the summer and stored away inside in the winter

Re: Outdoor Furniture Question
I'm anal retentive and put the cushions away after use (we don't leave them out all the time, just when we know we're going to be using them.)
Even though they're weather resistent, I don't like birds pooping on them, nor having them get wet because of moisture from overnight (dew, etc..)
We have a lot of cushions, so we keep them in one of those large plastic sheds. When we only had the 6 cushions for the table, we used one of those deck boxes.
Putting them away when they're not in use really prolongs their life. Replacing cushions is freakin' expensive!!!! They usually cost more than the furniture itself.

I also put only take the cushions out when we are going to use them too avoid the poop issue.
In the winter they are in a plastic strage bag in the bedroom, for the summer they are in a closet closer to the front door.
My table is some type of metal--I have yet to find the right kind of cover, so I leave it exposed & it is holding up fine after 2 winters.
