Outdoor Parties - What's your contingency plan?
in the event of bad weather.
We're having ours in the back yard. Planning on getting a basic canopy tent. Party is on 8/2. In the event of really torrential rain I'm at a loss as to what I should do. Should I do a rain date? Cancel? There is no way more than 20 people could fit in my house without all four walls busting out. What would you ado? Or would you just have your guests just brave it out under the tent?

I am getting a big tent with 6 tables and 60 chairs.
I'll be checking the weather the week prior and I can always add sides to the tent then.
Oh - and my mother is turning the Blessed Mother statue facing outside in her window. That supposedly brings on the nice weather. It worked for my wedding!

Oh - and my mother is turning the Blessed Mother statue facing outside in her window. That supposedly brings on the nice weather. It worked for my wedding!
So funny...just today a woman at work told me that she was going to have her mom says a bunch of novenas for me from now until August. She swears it works. Wish I knew that for my wedding. 8/21/04....it was like a monsoon!!! I never had luck with weddings and parties. Ever! Not sure why I'm even attempting this one.

Excellent. What helps you, helps me, too!  (June 28th, here we come!!)
Oh, and as for my contingency plan -- not sure yet. We are thinking tent or extremely crowded house.

I have a gazebo outside that I have to set up when the weather gets better. It's not "big" but it will help with the crowded house.
