Outdoor Runners: Best/Favorite Sneakers?
I didn't know how serious I would be about running when I started and bought a pair of new balance on sale at modells for 40 or 50 bucks about 8 weeks ago.
They are definitely sneakers designed for running, but I still feel some shock when running on concrete or the asphalt track in the park or on the street.
I know Jillian from the biggest loser swears by (or st least endorses) a particular pair, but i can't remember which ones.
Can you recommend your favorites so I can start checking them out? I think I'm willing to spend up to 120. ( but less is always best!)
I'm open to all brands.

If you run alot, I would highly reccomend you find out the best shoes for your foot type: more info here
On of the best things you can do is go to a running store and they will suggest what type of sneakers you should get for your foot type (ex: motion control, neutral, etc..)
I personally love asics- they're pretty much the only brand I wear. I feel like they provide a nice cushion for me and have alot of shock absorption.

I've always worn Saucony. Everybody is different though. My suggestion is to go to a good running store, like Runner's Edge in Farmingdale (my favorite). Very experienced runners work there and they will look at your feet, see how you walk and recommend sneakers for you. What works for one person, may not be right for another. Also, Super Runner's Shop is another popular place that you can get the same type of service.

I second the asics. The Kayano are my favorite - a little pricey, but for me it's worth it. I've had some many impact injuries - sprains, stress fractures, etc., and a good pair of trainers really helps. Asics have also seemed to last a full 6-8 months where as Nikes last me maybe 3 months.

Jack Rabbit - in the city - it's a store that video tapes you run on a treadmill then helps you pick a sneaker based on how you run.
I recently got back into running too and desperatly need a new pair - I plan on going there.
They carry all the major brands mentioned and are located in union square.

I have a Jack Rabbit near me and I bought a head wrap and gloves from them and it came out to $50! I've been avoiding them because I know I'll end up spending so much money, but I guess you shouldn't skimp on your feet, bones, knees, etc.

I am also a huge fan of Asics...I would definitely recommend you going to a running store as Colleen suggested. I go to the Sayville Running Company and they are incredible in there. They have a machine that will measure up your foot and help you select the best sneaker for you. I have never used the machine but they have made me run to make an accurate recommendation. They are a little pricier than Sports Authority or Modell's but extremely knowledgeable. I wore the wrong sneakers for a long time resulting in a stress fracture so I am very careful now.

I love love my Mizuno sneakers.... They work the best for me. They are pricey but I have had no foot or knee problems since using them!

I also recommend going to a runners shop so they can see what works best for you. When I first started running I wore asics b/c so did every other runner LOL and they were cushiony but now I switched to Saucony a while ago and they feel so much better on my feet! I love them.
