Re: ovarian cysts
It depends what type of cysts and what is causing them.
If you are speaking about tiny pearl like cysts that is a sign of pcos (poly cystic ovarian syndrome) and yes, that can interfere with ttc but it also can be treated. Usually it occurs when your body is insulin resistant and ....a med like metformin can help regulate it. In the case of pcos...a woman is usually not ovulating, at least not regularly.
You can also have endometrial cysts, that can interfere with ttc and most of the time these are larger and may have to be removed.
Cysts also occur sporadically, and shrink and diminish. Fertility meds like clomid can cause these cysts to occur.
Cysts interfere with estradoil levels and therefore, can affect ttc.

Re: ovarian cysts
I have re-occuring cysts and I dont have poly cystic ovarys...My cysts are part naturally forming and helped in part by stupid Clomid...lol
Mine get pretty big, and then usually either burst ( painless in my case) or dissolve on their own. I do have a cyst that gets very very small and grows back it seems.
Birth control pills can reduce them, even if taken for only 7 days or so....
Some very large ones will need to be removed...
Theres no major cause for cysts....

Re: ovarian cysts
Years ago I had a very large cyst that had to be removed surgically. They also had to remove one of my ovaires beacuase of it. Not sure what caused it, thank god I haven't really had many since that time.

Re: ovarian cysts
I frequently got them when I was in Middle/High School.
In 7th grade I had one burst and it leaked toxins in my body. It was really scary and the doctors said it could be fatal. I had emergency surgery after they realized what it was. They thought it was appendicitis. I woke up with horrible pain in my side unable to move.
I also had the reoccuring but not as bad through high school. I had another surgery to remove a bigger one in 10th grade.
They put me on BC to stop them. I haven't had them since.

Re: ovarian cysts
I had one that burst 8 yrs ago but thank god it the fluid didnt release any toxins into my body. It hurt really really bad too, I will never forget that pain, I was at work and they called an ambulance but I was too embarassed to go so I called my OBGYN and see if I should go to the hospital or his office , so my coworker drove me right to my OBGYN, he said that we ALL get them after our periods and most of the time they just shrink and disappear and sometimes they either burst or grow very large.
I couldnt walk or stand up straight, thats how bad the pain was.
He said it shouldnt have a problem with TTC. good luck edited to say I never had one before or after that one, thank god!!

Re: ovarian cysts
I have PCOS, so I get the string of cysts on my ovaries. So far they haven't caused any other health problems, but they are causing me issues with TTC because of what Michelle said above.
