Re: Ovarian cysts

You read my mind! I would like to know also!

About once a year, I get these SEVERE abdominal pains! To the point where I can't walk or even move.

I don't usually get cramps, and that's what I am assuming it is, but I am very scared!

I have to make a DR's appointment and get checked.

Re: Ovarian cysts

Well I have not had any cysts BUT I do know a lot about them, because at one time I thought I did have cysts (turned out I had another gyno issue with very similar symptoms)

Here is a good reference, but the only way to really know if you have a cyst on your ovaries is to see your GYNO, who will do a sonogram of your ovaries..

Cysts are usually nothing to worry about at ALL, but yes than can be annoying and painful!

Re: Ovarian cysts

From my experience, I'd get really bad pain (especially during sex, sorry if TMI) that was concentrated on one side. I've had 2 rupture this way, and I thought I was going to die! The pain was unbelieveable. I was in the fetal position. I actually had to go to the hospital one night back in October. If it ruptures, you have to be very careful because it can cut off blood flow to your ovary, and you can lose the ovary! Very scary.

Re: Ovarian cysts

First, ovarian cysts are very common - most, if not all women, get them. Typically though, at the end of your cycle, they disappear. If they do not...

You will experience pain on the side where the cyst is. For me, I felt excruciating pain during the day - it hurt to sit, it hurt to lie down, it hurt to have sex. But at that point, the cyst was so large - I dealt with the pain (and incompetent Dr's) for eight months.

I had it - along with a part of my ovary - surgically removed. This was 14 years ago...I believe now there are less invasive ways to remove them.

Definitely get yourself to a Dr. Oftentimes they can tell if you have one by an internal...if not, they may send you for a sonogram.

After the surgery I went on the pill - this is supposed to help dissipate them...since with me, they seem to "get caught" and continue to grow. Chat Icon (But I've been cyst-free for years now.)

Re: Ovarian cysts

I have to deal with cysts more than I would like to.
They really are very painful. When mine ruptured I couldn't even walk to the phone I was on my hands and knees trying to get to it.
My temp shot up very high and my cervix hurt, A LOT.
If you think you have one, def. go to a GYN! They will be able to tell, very easily, if you have one or not.
