Over 30 chickies... a question....
When you've been sitting for a while, or when you first get up in the morning, do your joints hurt?
It used to just be my elbows and ankles which I've had issues with before. But now it's like every joint complains when I put too much weight on it or work out or I'm sitting in one position for a while.
I'm trying to lose weight (5 lbs already YAY) so I'm sure that will help. But I'm thinking of looking into joint health vitamins and such like glucosamine.
What's your experience, and do you do anything for it?

Re: Over 30 chickies... a question....
I am going to be 31 in July.....my knees specifically bother me. I went to see an orthopedist and he said I have something called chondroplaysia (sp?) - which is very common in women our age. I get swollen knees a lot esp if its humid or if I am sitting too long. Advil helps me and believe it or not when I started working out on the treadmill I guess it strengthened my knees bc they havent hurt as much! Also, if I am going to bed and they hurt I take an advil and put a pillow under my knees.

Re: Over 30 chickies... a question....
I just thought it was from my job. Good to know that I'm not the only one. I feel like I'm falling apart some days. I'm 32.

Yes. I sometimes wake up with joint pains in my extremities and I often wake up with severe neck and shoulder pain.

I totally thought this question was going to be about chickens.
My joints don't hurt in the morning - but my feet bother me sometimes if I haven't slept enough. I blame it on the excess weight and the toll it is taking on my poor arches.

Re: Over 30 chickies... a question....
well i am 39 and while my joints do not ache per se, I do feel alot of neck stiffness as I have gotten older, also I work in a job thats pretty physically demanding at times and I am finding it harder to get back up sometimes from say a kneeling or crouching position.. I am planning to start working out regularly again so I can gain some strength and flexibility back....

I am over 30 and 8 months pregnant. Whenever I move from a sitting to standing position, it feels like someone drop kicked me in the crotch while wearing a pair of steel toed boots. Is that the feeling you are talking about?

Well, I'm stiffer than I was 5 months ago. I need to stretch.

I am 33 and i do notice that if I sit in a position too long, when I go to get up, I am creaking and aching.
I also feel like my joints "crack" more....I do not think of myself as getting older, but I guess it is happening....

I'm ok- I will be 31 in a week
DH on the other hand - is falling apart! knees, wrist, shoulder, tired, the list goes on and on- and he's a hypo- so that doesn't help!

Re: Over 30 chickies... a question....
I actually have less issues with my knees/ankles when I don't work out on the treadmill. I think I might be walking too hard. I already changed my sneakers to running shoes, hoping that would help.
I also have to get out of the habit of sitting on my leg. Does anyone else do that? Fold their leg to the other side and sit on it? It sounds weird when I say it like that but someone else I know does it.
And as I typed that, I just realized I'm doing it right now.

The only time I ever felt like that was when I was kicked in the crotch. [Billy Crystal] I hate it when that happens.[/Billy Crystal]

Re: Over 30 chickies... a question....
I will be 32 in july, my DH just turned 32 and all we do is complain about aches, pains and being tired...we thought it was from teaching! and yes I also sit on my legs alot, could be that I have not worked out in a loooong time, so maybe that is the problem, I am also not as flexiable as I once was

Walking, running is all high impact. Make sure you have a good pair of shoes with support too.
I can barely move in the morning when I wake up.

Re: Over 30 chickies... a question....
It seems like all the ways I can get my heartrate up doing cardio is high impact on my joints. I suppose my best bet is a stationary bicycle. The rock-hard seats hurt my @ss though. I need a REAL bicycle!

Try the elliptical. Much easier on the joints and not nearly as hard on the @ss.

Re: Over 30 chickies... a question....
yep. mostly my legs and my back, but I find if I don't get up and move around at least once an hour during the day at work, I am practically a sack of bones by the end of the day. I'm also trying to lose weight right now, so hopefully as I progress, the aches will die down a bit. the glucosamine might help though.

Re: Over 30 chickies... a question....
I'm 30 and sometimes I wake up w/a general feeling of acheyness. I think its just from not doing anything physical b/c it actually gets better when I work out.
