Over the top WAY TMI IUD question
I know the string sticks the the vaginal wall... how does the string stay hanging down during sex and not bunched up against the cervix? Basically how do you avoid the magician disappearing hanky trick w the string?? Or does it happen?

Re: Over the top WAY TMI IUD question
I didn't have any problems with the string - my DH never "felt" it, etc. Be warned, though... I got pregnant while using one! Apparently, they can move at any time - I had mine checked in February by my doctor & then ended up pregnant in April!

Re: Over the top WAY TMI IUD question
I was wondering the same thing. My dr. told me that if for some reason I can't feel it when I check for it that I can always call for an appointment and they can check for me or DH could check . Altought I don't think it sticks as much as we might thing becuase it felt like a nylon thread when my dr. gave me the extra to touch to get accostumed to.

Re: Over the top WAY TMI IUD question
yes - it wasn't in the right place to prevent pregnancy. My doctor said she had delivered babies in the past with IUD's in the mother. My miscarriage wasn't just because of the IUD. Even after it gets implanted it can move - I think that is why you have to check the string periodically.

Re: Over the top WAY TMI IUD question
here's my TMI answer (I have the Mirena). I don't check for my strings. That's a little too much for me. DH has said he never feels them. Apparently, they are up pretty high. My doc showed me what they were like, they are not like a tampon string. They are a very fine, flexible string, almost like fishing line. My OB check at my yearly and says everything looks in place, so that's good enough for me. I absolutely love mine. No cramps, no AF. It's a beautiful thing.

Im thinking about the Mirena. Since you dont check the string how do you know for sure its still there?

Re: Over the top WAY TMI IUD question
I had the paraguard - I was 35 & smoked then, so, I was not a good candidate for the Mirena.
