Pacific Coast Highway Itineray
Has anyone done a road trip vacation along Cali's Pacific Coast highway? DH and I would like to do this trip the beginning of 2013 and would love some itinerary suggestions or any feedback from those who have done this trip.

yup! we did about 3 years ago. its still one of my fave trips ever.
we went for 10 days. we flew into San Francisco, and spent 3 nights there. we toured alcatraz, walked on the pier, saw the crooked street and the "Full House" houses LOL, Ghiradelli was yummy,Golden Gate BRidge, day trip to Napa Valley
Then, we i forget the exact itinerary... but we spent a night near Monteray, a night near Huntinton Beach, a night in this really cute town called Solvang, and then 3 nights in San Diego ( we had a wedding there)
some of the things we saw along the way were Hearst Castle (pretty cool), the REdwood forests, SAnta Barbara was neat, PEbble Beach Golf course. And basically just the whole drive is so scenic and pretty
In san diego we hiked at Torrey Pines, did the San Diego Zoo, and rented a sailboat and went out sailing.

I want to start in San Fran and end in Los Angeles. After that i want to fly to Vegas- might as well since im over there. The Cali portion i want to try and do in 6-7days. Is that possible?

Pacific Coast Highway Itineray
Def doable in 6-7 days. I would spend a couple of days in San Fran - I was there for only one day this past Spring and did a city tour that hit all of the highlites in one day (including Alcatraz which is one of my favorite things to see there), but a few extra days would be nice. On the way down, I would do Monterey and Carmel and Hearst Castle, Redwood forest and Pebble Beach. For Hearst Castle you have to make day/time specific reservations, but it is definitely worth seeing. I didn't spend a whole lot of time in LA and it was years ago, so can't offer too much there, but I would guess the biggies are Hollywood, Beverly Hills, Rodeao Dr (if you're into that kind of thing). Best of all, the ride down the coast is amazing and worth it all by itself!
