Pacifier-Taking away too early? Cause sleep issues?
The recent paci thread got me thinking.
My sleep problems(not going in her crib, waking up screaming, not sleeping through the night anymore) with DD for the last month started after we weaned her from her paci at 9 months old, DD is almost 11 months old now.
She has a s u c king blister on her top lip (she used to have this when i bf and no paci too)
DD was waking 2 times a night and screaming for her paci and PED told us she's manipulating us, but as soon as we put the paci back in she'd settle and go to sleep. Plus he scared us saying that older the baby gets the s ucking can cause ear infections and that the earlier the better to take it away.
Did we take it away too sooon? Should I give it back?
i would love to hear some opinions on this

I don't think you took it away too soon. I am sure she just has to get used to not using it.
We took it away at 2 months and he switched to his thimb instead.

Re: Pacifier-Taking away too early? Cause sleep issues?
it depends on her.....some babies will be great when you transition....
Alyson did GREAT when we weaned off the bottle and with her being sick last week, she was getting her powerade in a sippy all day/night and refuse to go back to the bottle.
She doesn't miss it....I'm sure if she SAW the bottle, she'd reach for it, but she drinks fine from them. She was ready.
I will not take away her paci either until she is ready. I feel that the sucking reflex exists for a reason, the paci gives comfort in pain or distress, and honestly, she only uses it when she sleeps. We bring it in public for meltdowns or for sleeping in the car, but she does not walk around with it.
IMO, with your situation, I'd give it back and see if it makes a difference. at 9 months, she's still a baby and if it gives her comfort and soothes her.....why disrupt that? Plus, she is obviously looking for it if she has a blister on her lip......
