pack and play vs. tent at beach
What are your thoughts? I originally thought of getting a tent..but we got a cabana in Long beach this summer and can leave whatever we buy there for the summer..
I was thinking maybe a pack and play with a cover may be best? What do you think?
What worked best for you

Where do you plan on using it? How big is the cabana? If you have a cabana and they can nap inside, a PNP is a good idea - but if they will be napping on the sand, the tent is more practical, easier to transport, and you can put a towel/blanket inside for them to nap on.

Hmmm not exactly sure yet...my family goes to the beach for a week in Jersey so there it would be used on the beach..
at the cabana I'd probably move him under the shaded area, or maybe in the cabana? I'm not sure?

I brought the pack and play to the beach. Better than the tent, imo.
I stuck the umbrella through the corner slot and my kids were completely covered. They were able to stand, play, nap.

Re: pack and play vs. tent at beach
We bought the tent because that is what we are going to use when we go to the water. I figured that when DS naps I can put him in his stroller in the cabana. My thinking is using the stroller would be easier because there is not much room in the cabana so if someone has to get to the bathroom or shower it would be easier to get around than the PNP.

Re: pack and play vs. tent at beach
We used both. The pack and play was great. My DS wouldn't nap without it.

Re: pack and play vs. tent at beach
Jen,
I would get both.
We have the same situation. I am using a pack n play for the cabbana for naps and play (so she is directly out of the sun).
Then going to use a tent for on the beach. The tents are made of material that our UPF 50 + and block out all sun....(so I felt that was safer than the pack n play on the beach with an umbrella).

pack and play vs. tent at beach
so I havent used a pnp only bc the last time I went to the beach I had the tent and DD refused to stay in it *dont blame her it was so suffocating and small.. so we put her on the blanket we laid down with an umbrella over it.. it was torture she was all over the place and eating sand.. so I am scarred and have not gone back to the beach since lol. BUT definitly i would takethe pnp next time as I think it would be MUCH easier to keep her contained!!
