Pack N Play At The Beach
I was thinking about braving the beach with baby and kiddo in tow. I was thinking of bringing along the PNP and putting something over the top to keep the sun out. Is this stupid (or ghetto even)? Do you think a sheet would work or something heavier? I had a sun tent, but I took it back since it ripped before we even took it outside. Plus it was a pain to fold!

I would get a sun umbrella with SPF. Regular clothing (sheets) will let UVs go through.

I like a baby sun tent. When nap time arricves it keeps out flys and blocks sun.

Way too heavy - I would just bring an umbrella or go get a tent. And I wouldn't want to be cleaning the sand out of even the legs, especially if its going to go in your house afterwards.

My PNP is light, it's the travel lite one. But, good point about the sand. That would be a huge pain!
I was reading reviews of a lot of the tents and it seems they all have the same problem..it overheats inside, even with the vents unless you just have a canopy kind.
I think we'll just wait until next summer when I can actually put sunblock on her and not have to worry so much!

I've gone to the beach a few times this summer. I've used the tent (with the floor bottom) from One Step Ahead and it's been great. I don't have an overheating problem but I do put it under the umbrella also.

Re: Pack N Play At The Beach
I have the travel pack and play and we bring it to the beach!!! I use an umbrella and it completely blocks the sun. I have 2 pack/plays, one stays in the house and the travel one is what I take to the beach.
When we get home, I wash the pack/play legs with a hose and the sand is gone.
IMO, if your child is crawling, the tent is a pain the azz because they wont sit still and your going to spend the entire time at the beach chasing your baby. At least with the pack/play, they are content and can play without getting away

Re: Pack N Play At The Beach
I've taken Alex to the beach quite a few times. I have a small tent for her but she hasn't used it yet. So far she stays in her car seat, or yesterday I had her lying on the blanket - under an umbrella that DH and I use for ourselves. I keep the car seat under the umbrella too, she doesn't get too hot.
She loves the beach and she sleeps sooo well that night!
